Bristol R*vers dustbin thread

They are so small time it is unbelievable.

When they picked up half a dozen free transfers & undisclosed fees (probably £50k) at the start of the window their mates at the North Korea post couldn’t wait to say it was “showing ambition”, but truth is this is like us selling Fam to QPR, a club in the same division.

Still Ben “2 wins in 16 games” Garner is “building his own team” as his friends in the media will say..

Bristol Rovers have sold Jonson Clarke-Harris to League One rivals Peterborough United, Bristol Live understands.

Clarke-Harris was left out of the Rovers squad which beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 in a friendly on Tuesday night with the Gas accepting a bid in the region of £1.25 million plus clauses.

:rofl2br:

Watch the Peterborough owner say it was less than 1.25m . He will get them frothing at the mouth. I actually like Peterborough’s owner

""We made JCH... He had a very average career before he joined us and wasn't exactly prolific, in the same way that we made MT the pkayer he was.. JCH owes us his career and his move to the moneybags club of the lower divisions. At least we recouped a decent fee for him unlike MT. Not that gutted tbh but we need to recruit two strikers to replace him as Ayunga and daly have next to no league experience"

Totally, totally deluded. He saved them from relegation. He scored 80% of their entire teams goals. Why do the Gash think that they're a special club that all players should be grateful to play for? league Two/One yoyo club, that don't even have a training ground, and their 'stadium' consists of 6 tents. They should be grateful that JCH clicked there, their 2 previous signings got 4 goals in nearly 150 games!

You answered that question in your first sentence...totally and utterly deluded, they think they’re some massive club who everyone loves and admires. In reality no one gives a shit about them and that includes most people who live in Bristol.

I had the feeling that the 20/21 season was going to be poor for the Sags with COVID, 6k fans, a debt mountain, a team of unknowns and a manager that didn't have a clue as it was.  JCH was the only hope they had of scoring a few goals.  Probably need to spend the cash on a JCB to dig up the Mem and turn it into a housing estate, which was always Wael's ambition anyway.

Peterborough have spent approx £1m on JCH this season and approx £1m on Mo Eisa last season. Two million pounds is more than Rovers have spent on players over the last 20 years, yet their fans regard Peterborough as a smaller team. Gas logic

They seem to think half their squad would be able to cut it in the Championship. They have done for years.

Aside from the odd game on Sky, I would be amazed if any/many of them watch Championship football on a regular basis (and lets be honest, you can't assess a game through TV pictures, movement off the ball is rarely shown other than as an afterthought).

How's the Fruit Market going?  We haven't heard a lot about that of late.

Only a year to go and they'll have the stadium built and moved in - according to Wally :shocking:

Chatting to someone who has an interest in the Fruit Market a couple of weeks ago and he reckons it'll take at least two years for them to find a new place and move in from the time an offer is accepted - only when all businesses have moved out and found land/premises can demolition and building the stadium begin. They would be looking at around five years from time of offer acceptance to having a stadium ready. The costs, considering the complexities of finding land and build costs for the outgoing businesses would be astronomical and have multi-millions tied up for years while the businesses move.

Still, its all very simple according to Wally - two years from last August and they're in.

They'll be camping out for a few years yet.

Yeah, and how long will it take to find someone to pay for it....................unless they resort to their usual tactics of trying to steal it?

100%, they are ******* deluded.

They simply have no idea about competing at a level where a club the size of Sheffield Wednesday are in mid table.

They haven’t been at our level since 1993, none of their players are remotely of this standard, the ones who have joined Championship teams (Lockyer, Bodin & Harrison) have all been out of their depth.

I just looked, because frankly I have no idea who plays for them these days, apart from Clarke-Harris who scored 13 (a lot of which were penalties) the next highest scorer had 3.

They will bump along bottom eight again next season but are going absolutely nowhere.

Plan B = Pitch up in a few caravans and make enough mess and fuss that the businesses want to love out pronto.

And of course, the fans default setting of suggesting they resign players who have left them and either stayed in the same division or moved up a level and it hasn't really worked out.

The reasons players can't get away quick enough are the low wages, lack of training facilities and the dire stadium. Why in earth would they want to go back?

If we get a reasonable offer he'll be off. One year left on his contract and he hasn't signed the extension on offer. The training ground hasn't come to a halt, it's under construction. First pitch ready by September, second by October.

I was under the impression that there was a hold up with the local authority and some of the planning criteria not met. Therefore it wouldn't be useable until those conditions were met.

Must be a structure in place by now as they’re starting to play there in 12 months according to Wael last year. All the fittings and electrical work takes a long time as we know. Then the car park, tours to let fans see the new stadium in their droves for season tickets, media storm as the massive club finally get their new stadium and everyone nationally agrees they’re so much better than them gurt teds. Obviously they are already building it and can extend so the surge for tickets means they will have to do that before opening. Obviously, Waels’ mate, Will Smith will be opening it backed up by Carlton dancing to ‘Its not unusual’ in his own inimitable style while Bristols first £10M player laps up the adulation and leads a chorus of ‘we’re coming for you’ from the adoring hordes....

Aah, better scrub that, they’ve done naff all and don’t actually own it!

Surprised? Me neither.

Not that I’m aware of. It’s being constructed under an already existing planning permission. The only change Rovers asked for (and had approved), was that the training ground could be used during school hours - which wasn’t the case with the originally intended rugby pitches.

Have Rovers asked to extend the current temporary training venue arrangement till May 2021 because construction of the four male changing rooms, four female changing rooms and lounge bar is running behind schedule ?
