How the hell do they get away with it virtually every single sodding week!!!?

On the plus side, with the amount of penalties and red cards in their favour, given their league position it really shows how shit they are!!

Haven't won a single point since Xmas without the benefit of a penalty or sending off

Miss Gardener.

We are well aware that Bristol has multiple football teams, after all it has one of the biggest set ups of non-league football (of which any Rovers Fan should be well aware, given recent history) in the country.

We therefore apologise to the oldest club in Bristol, Roman Glass St. George, for not acknowledging them sooner.

Glad we could resolve this issue.

Completely forget about this. So their claim to be the oldest club in Bristol, is false and, we have been a member of the football league (unbroken) since 1901. The claimed oldest club haven't been in the league as long as us, only joining the football league when the authorities formed an extra two divisions and then it was only half the country(div 3 South). They stayed there all cosy for thirty (yes 30) years until finally progressing upwards for a short period.

So not the oldest Bristol Club and not the oldest league club, why do they claim and believe such rubbish?

They are the oldest league club.

They've just been in the league for a shorter time.

Went for a curry with some good mates tonight, one of whom is a methane snorter. According to him, the dark arts are part of the game and they do them better than anyone else. ?

The fact they are shite is irrelevant.

To be fair to him, he said he would dread playing us as we are miles ahead. Far too sensible for a gashead.

To be fair to them this is true, stealing scrounging, cheating, leaching, no club in Europe does it better.

I respectfully suggest you look into the history books again. BRFC joined the football league in the 1920/21 season after being admitted to the division 3 southern section. We (BCFC) joined the football league into the 2nd division in 1901  and have remained a member ever since, regardless of an administrative name change in 1982, our membership has never lapsed.

I think we're talking at cross purposes.

Of the Bristol clubs in league football, they are the oldest.

We joined the football league the earliest.

As the older club of the two, Rovers are the oldest league club in Bristol. But they have been a league club the least amount of time

We have been in the league longer and are therefore the oldest league club. The Black Arabs was just a boy band back in the day.

An education for the saggy ones....

Bedminster FC were formed in 1887. Bristol South End were formed in 1894 and became Bristol City in 1897. They merged with Bedminster FC in April 1900 and joined the league in 1901 beating Blackpool 2-0 at Bloomfield Road in their first game. The club's highest-ever league finish was second in the top flight in 1906-07. They were FA Cup runners-up in 1909, and won the Welsh Cup in 1934. The club have also won the second tier title once, the third tier title four times, the Anglo-Scottish cup once, and the Football League Trophy a record three times.

The Black Arabs were founded in 1883 and entered the Bristol & District league as Eastville Rovers in 1892. The club moved into the Birmingham & District league in 1897 and then switched to the Southern League as Bristol Rovers in 1899. They were not admitted into the football league until 1920. They were placed in the Third Division South and remained there until 1952–53. They recorded their highest finishing positions in 1956 and 1959, a sixth-place finish in the second division. They had to apply for reelection to the football league twice before finally being relegated from it in 2015 having finished 23rd the season before, a year before it became a relegation place.

1- I do not care what Rovers are doing as long as they always stay one league below us at a minimum.

2- We have always had better stadiums than them.

3- We have always been the superior club in Bristol.

4- Ashton Gate have always been the better and sophisticated side of the City of Bristol.

5- We have always had the better pubs.

6- We have always had more success than the Gas.

7- There just is no comparison at all thinking about. Except they have had a couple of good managers in the past but that’s about it. Oh many many years ago Boxing day grey hounds at Eastville was good.

No one was comparing them or saying they were better in any way.

Again, someone not understanding what I wrote when it really isn't difficult.

WE HAVE BEEN IN THE LEAGUE LONGER.

ROVERS ARE THE OLDEST CLUB IN BRISTOL THAT PLAY LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

"oldest league club" refers to the second of those.

We are the longest serving league club in Bristol, continuously and overall.

Not difficult.

Totally agree with James. I was not saying or bringing a comparison. I was just stating we are the best club in Bristol and always will be.

Not at all difficult James, which is why I was confirming what you said  ?‍♂️

.... but the pedantic follow up point I was making was that the "name" Bristol Rovers did not exist until 1899 but the "name" Bristol City existed in 1897.

Their bizarre pride in being slightly older is like your mate turning up to introduce you to his fit new girlfriend. She's a curvy size 10, great dress sense, lovely hair, pretty smile and goes down on him at every chance, but you try convincing him (and yourself) that your fat, smelly, unwaxed wife, with greasy hair and 2 missing front teeth is the better catch - because she's older...!
