Feel a little bit sorry for Darlington. Fair play to them trying to keep playing their game.

No doubt the Gas will claim they are world beaters. I don't think they've actually played that well considering the level of the opposition.

Much as I hate to say it, you can only beat what’s in front of you.

This is actually a good result - for those who enjoy a laugh. It will produce wildly optimistic comments by the Rovers fans, with a predictions of Championship football in a year or two. It will be followed by realism when Rovers have to play in League 1 against much bigger teams such as Arrington Stanley

Daly doesn't look like the worst player tbh, better than Nicholls, although I suppose that's not hard. They do have a knack of unearthing a gem of a lower-league striker on occasion.

Problem these days, is that whereas previously they were one of a few clubs looking in non-league, loads of clubs have scouting networks and salary budgets that allow them to hoover up the best of the later developers and can pay transfer fees a lot of League One and Two clubs can only dream of.

Pretty sure we spent quite a bit on Bakinson and Hinds when they were non league.

The Fewers paid over £50K for Ryan Jones of Weston Super Mare a couple of months back as it happens which surprised me and Peterborough were prepared to pay a lot more.

Only just heard this unbelievable result so looked up the match report:

JUST AS I SUSPECTED::ranting:

Rovers broke through with a freakish opener.

Josh Hare's long hopeful punt forward ballooned backwards up off defender David Atkinson's head and over his keeper Johnny Saltmer, and Daly nipped in to touch the ball over the line.

... Sam Nicholson which took him into the box, the ball broke kindly and he slotted home.

Eight minutes after the restart, the lightweight Daly won another penalty when he went down very easily under a challenge from outraged defender Tony McMahon

There was further anguish for McMahon when his well-struck effort - Darlo's best chance - was brilliantly tipped onto the post by Rovers keeper Anssi Jaakkola.

So, freak goals, fluke goals, 2 outrageous penalties, and Darlington so unlucky to hit the post with a fantastic effort!

Shame on those lucky gas b*******s - their name is mud yet again - and well played Darlington. Football is the loser with this monstrosity of a result and all decent football fans will surely agree that morally Bristol Rovers are THE LOSERS today (and every day) and the incredibly unfortunate Darlington the true winners.

Hold your heads up and a safe trip home Darlington. :city:

They want us in the 3rd round? Bring it on!

Some gas belter on FB is still banging on about Windass and Hull saying we can't beat them. He forgets that since that day we've beaten Hull on numerous occasions and the sags became a non league club.

We would absolutely muller their shower and they know it. The worst possible draw they could get is us IMHO.

You mean like Shrewsbury?

If our boys treated a game against the sags in the same manner as they treated the Shrews, I would be incredibly disappointed. They talk about 'the fans' and would surely know what a Bristol derby means to us.

Are people genuinely concerned about playing them, if we drew them?

Assuming that the Sags obviously can't read and don't know what league Hull currently play in.
