Bristol Rovers Dustbin Thread

Recommended Posts

I've never seen this before, and had to do a double take whilst watching

This is from a video on YouTube of the tunnel cam against Rovers

I wonder what happened to it??

If Lyle Taylor comes here, it's our fault for Charlton signing JCH.

It’ll be that nasty Lady Garden SL’s fault, he’s scared of them getting into the Championship don’t you know?

One of them is getting the "didn't really like him, anyway" comment in early...

Being realistic, maybe last summer JCH was worth 2 or even 3 million but anyone who has watched his performances this season ain’t going to pay that. Moody, arrogant, always injured, billy big balls, looks disinterested most of time.

Can't see Wally reinvesting any profit either.

Oh, I don't know, there must be quite a markup on the out of date Quavers.

True - I suppose if you get them out the skip round the back of Tesco`s then it`s 100% profit.

Anybody who fancies seeing the stark reality of just how tinpot Rovers are... look at their transfer fee history over the past 10 years or so..!
All there in black & white on transfermarket.com

Its dodgy though ain't it. I mean is it me or does something not add up with them lot. I know we laugh at their players sells now but back in the 90's and early 2000's didnt they sell Hayles, Robert's, Ellington, Agogo etc for quite big money back then? Including the sale of Lambert and sell ons with that how have they always struggled to bring players in? What happened to all the fees they received? Comparative to other clubs they should have more to show for it.

Makes you wonder who profited from those deals, yes.
Although, looking at what they lose weekly now - can it have been much/any better in the past 30-40 years really..?
Crowds have always been low (despite their constant lies about it) and as cost have risen, their crowds haven’t.
That must quickly eat into relatively small selling fees, over time.
Even if they did manage to steal a free ground in the meantime.!

Was on loan at Vitesse earlier this season. Shouldn't expect his time with the Fewers to be a Triumph though.

Does this herald a new era of humour from Mr H ?

One example to give which might explain where the money goes, was the purchase and sale of Hayles. The directors loaned the club £250,000 for the purchase. They had a sell on clause of 50%. So, when he was sold, the club got £1m and the directors got £1.25m inc their original investment back.

I have a Gashead friend and his reason for going to watch the Gas is he likes ‘ standing ‘ . I suggested that he could stand elsewhere without having to endure what passes for football at the Mem but he just didn’t get it .

Maybe, we know he's  Renown* as a bit of a Stag with the ladies,  but will get the same Acclaim with his puns

* lovely classic

Triumph Renown is listed (or ranked) 22 on the list Full List of Triumph Motor Company Models

Yes I believe he acquired it when he went to Toledo on a Stag weekend. If he had gone to the Dolomite's he might have gone down a totally different Road(ster) and not received the same Acclaim.  :)

What they all fail to understand about the fruit market site is it’s a real business and if they sell up to the Fewers they’ll need a new site - ready to move into on day one, from when they move out of St Phillips. So before they even agree to move they’ve got to find a site themselves, design it, get planning permission and then build it - and only then can the Fewers start to even think about cutting turf for a new home.

Timescale - about 5 years end to end?

I believe it to be. It was documented in the papers at the time or when their accounts came out. Same as their manager (Francis) and chairman having sell on clauses for players.

”Tammy bruv, what’s it like in Bristol?”

”Great Tim, good stadium, 20k plus a week, great training facilities and fans without six fingers on each hand”

”No tents? I hate tents”

”No tents bro”

”Awesome”

Two hours later...
