So much for being able to compete in the championship, beaten by Readings U9's in an empty Chernobyl nuclear testing site.

The Gas will claim it was their U8's who lost when this game is forgotten about by the masses.

Following recent jibes from Rovers' fans about our support, tonight just goes to show the true attendance gap between our two clubs: the last Football League Trophy game we played there were 72,000 there, compared to Rovers' attendance tonight of 1,418.....

That was before the competition was bastardised. Fair play to our city rivals and the fans of other clubs. There is absolutely no comparable here to our turnouts before the competition got ruined - indeed I'd go as far to say the lower the turnout the even more impressive.

Totally - need to see the bigger picture here. This competition makes a mockery of the game.

Christ, I didn't realise they were messing with the format like this as well. Shame on anyone who attended, this needs to be stopped this season.

And yet if half the people moaning (not necessarily you) actually turned up to the old JPT this would never have happened.

The full group is Bristol Rovers, Reading Under 23s, Plymouth Ladies and Exeter Wheelchair team. Darell Clarke believes the Gas can secure third place in the 'group of death'.

So on the day we sell a player for potentially 15 Million they lose to Reading Youth Team.

At least now they have the very proud honour of being the only Bristol team to lose in a Carling Cup preliminary Round, relegated out of the league AND lose to a youth team In a competitive fixture.

Can someone please explain this competition to me. Is it the JPT  in a league format with U23 teams?

I am disappointed there were as many as that, I was hoping for considerably less than 1000,, I actually hope we lose every game in this competition.

Seems that a few of you missed my point here. I was making a stupid attendance comparison the same as Rovers did when we played Scunthorpe and they played Chelsea last week.

Never mind.

Fairplay. But you will always have fans who blindly follow any team and they'll usually come out with some crap like 'It doesn't matter who we play, they are my team and I'll support them'. They are well meaning I suppose but stupid. If every fan refused to attend a game that was priced over £30 it would never happen. But still 1000 ish city fans still went to Wednesday, fueling the problem.

The JPT now has a group stage? The 15ers must feel like a Champions League side. ;)

Some might say "the Barcelona of L1"...?!

I can't decide if their result last night was right up there with losing to Bath & Hitchen etc.

I was going to say Altrincham but then remembered that was a (non) league game and they were entitled to lose against another club at their level, without too much ribbing.

Oh, I think the boycott has worked and a good thing too...

461 at Wimbledon
392 at Fleetwood
950 at Chesterfield

These are paltry attendances and send out a strong message - hopefully the EFL will have a long, hard think before they further try to wreck the integrity of the pyramid.

EDIT: Swansea's starting XI had squad numbers which added up to 340 more than the total attendance for their game at Wimbledon.

The numbering thing is just nuts !

They had 25, 31, 57, 47, 14, 11, 63, 43, 56, 39, 36 - I bet Marvin Emnes and Franck Tabanu were gutted they were selected

So most under 23 sides lose to experienced league starters, yet Reading win....

Norwich also won 6-1 at Peterborough - that means Adrian Durham will be slating the competition on Talksport later

Three group matches that have to have a winner , you couldn't make it up. Absolute farce.

It was a very enjoyable game it has to be said! How you getting on in your quest for strikers BTW, any irons in the fire? I certainly don`t want you to go down but do fear for you if you don`t get anyone in.

Nothing doing as of yet. Looks like Nathan Byrne off to Wigan and we wanted him :(

We're 6 hours away from the fact that Wally will have gone through his first transfer window as gas supremo without spending a penny on transfer fees.

#ticktock: Are they still coming for us?

they have one incoming, but if its a loan then that tells you all you need to know about their "billionaire"

They'll spend a bit this window. Just enough to have their fans think they are going places (that place being Swindon again, rather than a new stadium they can't afford).

Deal in place for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to leave #chesterfieldfc on season-long loan deal. It's neither Southend or #BristolRovers #spireites

Is Wally breaking the transfer record today? After all Man *Utd paid nearly £90million onPogba would have thought world biggest club would at least rival that. There again wasn't Challis their record signing 20 odd years ago at £400k,and doesn't that still stand .

They hoping he'll go to them as the price-per-letter on the back of the shirts the deluded will buy should generate enough for a new tent.

Wally don't have the money to pay for uwe site

yes his family has some money but all invested in there four persent shares

he has been trying to get backing from investors

with no luck

on paper he's has money he was banking on Sainsbury losing in court and now finding he stuck with little chance of getting his return

this is why there now news on uwe also no players pay for and why he is tarting up there ground on the cheep

The penny will drop soon

The thing for me is intent. Back to back promotions, wealthy owner and all they have to show for it so far is 1 new tent and a 6 month loan signing.

Its pathetic. You don't need to go nuts but where is the intent? Their record signing is only 300 odd k. Show some ambition.

Quick have a ridiculous love-in on Gloucester Road to celebrate zero spending. Hold Wally aloft! The gift is back to giving generously again!

plan B is about to be put into action....

More investment needed

Bring back Nick Higgs

Maybe we should have gone with the other consortium who apparently had the finance in place to start uwe immediately. Wael clearly isn't willing to finance this himself which means every detail in negotiations has to go our way to make outside investment add up. Uwe aren't going to concede everything.

Is this a joke?? Everyone needs to chill out, if UWE isn't right long term we don't want it, so we have a delay short term.... big deal!

This must be how you become a billionaire. Leading to ownership of the 6th richest club in the league.

Don't spend any money!

Transfer deadline day must be bloody boring up Horfield way. They must just sit there in front of Sky just waiting for the name Bristol Rovers to be mentioned, it doesn`t happen and they troop off to bed.

I'm sat in Horfield, loving the window this season :city:

Lets put it into perspective they are an embarrassment to the City and County of Bristol.
