Huge game on Wednesday night at Lodge Road.

Play Off Semi Finals

Yate Town v Moneyfields

7.45pm K/O.

The tie is decided on the night, so just one leg, will be a very close game and it would be great to see as many City fans there cheering on a local side!

Lodge Road,

BS37 7LE

Well done Yate, 5-4 win on pens, 1-1 AET with 10 men.

Yate now play Cinderford in the final on Monday at home.

Up the Bluebells!

An astonishingly stupid rule this season means that Yate can win the play off final and still not go up, and are relying on the results of other play off finals at their level to fall their way. Cinderford are in an even worse position in that they are coming into the final knowing that even if they win, they will 100% not be going up through no fault of their own.

Sorry what's that rule? Sounds crazy.

There's 7 leagues all with play-offs... but only 5 promotion spaces up for grabs.

So out of the 7 winners, only the 5 with the best Points per game ratio will go up. So you have the situation that teams know, even if they win the play-offs, their PPG means they have no hope of going up.

Due to league restructuring, the FA are only allowing 5 of the 7 play off winners to be promoted. They've decided that the 5 that go up are the teams that got the best points per game in the regular season, and as it stands Yate fall outside of that top 5. Someone's put together a really useful spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13xevutBR_9D5P27f9cBbVc_6icDZi5tfwuVQhc7msLM/edit#gid=0) showing what the situation is for each team.

That is crazy. What's the point in playing and risking injury.
