The BBC clearly have short memories...

Notts County have dropped out of the English Football League for the first time in their history after their final-day loss at Swindon Town.

The world's oldest professional league team and one of the Football League's founder members, Notts are arguably the biggest club to have ever suffered relegation to non-league.

Credit to Sol Campbell at Macclesfield too. Seemed like an odd appointment at the time but fair play to him, he hasn't moaned, just got on in v difficult circumstances and saved his team. Something to add to his cv.

Definitely. He's talked often enough about how he'd do a good job if he was given a chance, so he deserves credit for being able to back it up.

Fair play to him, could have taken the Gerrard or Lampard route into management but has learnt his trade in a tough job

He was turned down by clubs like Grimsby and Oxford so no he couldn’t have.

Done a good job anyway. Remarkable that Notts have gone down with their squad, something gone badly wrong there.

It's a different sort of managerial pressure in league 1/2 compared to the championship or SPL anyway. Rangers or Derby have the luxury of being able to go for a big name, if it doesn't work out they can sack them and start again. Someone like Oxford or grimsby can't do that. So he could have easily gone to a championship side but decided to start his trade somwhere lower down in the pecking order

Elsewhere, Forest fans are hoping their rivals drop out of the league; http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38130&page=198

I didn't realise County acted like our own cross town rivals when they had a wealthy takeover. http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38130&page=206

Many of us remember the absolutely gloating behaviour from County „supporters“ when the Munto Finance takeover was announced, how County fans were bragging about „taking over the City“ and giving it the Charlie Big-Potatoes about being a Premier-League side within a handful of consecutive promotions - and we had plenty of them post on this forum also, absolutely delighting in Forest being relegated to League One.  So, whilst we may seem to be delighting in your misery, you reap what you sow.

I love it when fans attempt to turn failure to ideology. The same fans who boast about tradition, steadfast support of dad's team, 'real' football experience, superior morality and intellect and all that crap are precisely the ones who will brag over success, when, if, and in whichever way it comes. All ideological constructs go out the window then, and it's win, win, win.
