Guest
Intrestingly been bought by new chap recently - always been owned by the avon gorge hotel but I guess hotel du vin have separated it off. Looks possible that it'll be turned into a proper museum going forward. Shame can't fully restore it but there is too much history inside other than the railway to pull out. Robbored
Had a Probus outing there a couple of years ago. It’s an interesting place. Was used as a bomb shelter during WW2.
Slippin cider
Had a tour a few years ago , very interesting place to visit, as Robbored has said it was used as a shelter in WW2 and as such has had walls built half way down what was the track. Also at the bottom are rooms that were used by the BBC and press reporting during that time .
Guest
Just watched the article on the BBC - didn’t realise it’s the chap who owns the observatory that’s bought it - that’ll be interesting as he was at loggerheads with the CHIS (Clifton and Hotwells Improvment Society) for a while and they’re the ones who have worked on the CRR for last 10-15 years. Also sad to see Maggie who leads the tours is fighting cancer (sounds fairly incurable) - her knowledge of the place is 2nd to none
