There has been a hell of a lot of investment since being City of Culture. They even have an ice rink! You get a hell of a lot more for your money up there. There are some decent historic boozers around the old High Street by the river and a full on new Hipster quarter on Humber Street down by the Marina (also one old boozer down there called the Minerva).
