No contest, it has to be that glorious day at Arsenal. All the hype was about Malcolm MacDonald but Gary Collier didn't give him a sniff.

Instead he was upstaged by Paul Cheesley and we comprehensively outplayed them. But for the woodwork and Jimmy Rimmer in goal it would have been a thrashing.

I might change my mind when we beat Arsenal away on the first day of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

That was very special but so was

http://www.mightyleeds.co.uk/matches/19740219.htm - great report of the two games! Journey back was best as headline news across the media - no idea how many times I hear the headlines that day

Most of them already mentioned (Forest away - League cup semi final, Man City away, 5-0 at Swansea).

One of my other favourites was the FA cup match at Notts County in 1983 I think.

We were 4th division, they were old 1st Division.

Great game and a 2-2 draw although I remember a rather unbelievable decision from the ref who failed to notice Tom Ritchie being almost decapitated by their keeper - no penalty given.

Ditto for so many of these, games I attended too. Great memories!

No one's yet mentioned 4-0 away at Birmingham in the late 80's. I think Super Bob scored a hatrick that day. We absolutely thumped them. Trouble was, a good few hundred Blues were waiting to thump us outside the ground afterwards. Riot police were holding them back, and police horses were everywhere. As they say these days, there were 'scenes'.

Driving home after, a pal of mine in his trusty Ford Cortina drove almost half way back to Bristol...in third gear, not realising (guess he was so hyped by the game), and blew out the engine.

Ah, happy days!

Had quite a few brilliant experiences following city away but nothing quite compared to Anfield when tinman scored the winner and we hung on to win. Atmosphere and the whole day was amazing ,can still remember it clearly now.

On the other side of the coin the play off defeats to Brighton and hull were so disappointing both in terms of the result and our performances when we didnt show up at either.

It's about time we had another chance.

My first away day that I went to with my sadly departed dad was Leeds when we won 1-0 against the once might Leeds in 1974

Really can't forget the 2-1 win at Eastville in the F.A cup with the whole Muller road end packed with City and rising from the ashes to do them

Our first trip to Wembley against Bolton - just the wow factor of being there and also winning with the great following we took that day

Liverpool and Tinmans winner - what a night and again away support was immense, lost my voice that night but was a great achievement and fair play to the Kop for clapping us

More recent times palace in the first leg of the play offs and then Man City away last season in the league cup semifinals

I was there and the ref was awful, you couldn't tell which team was in the first division that day, we were immense

Sheff Utd away in the very early years of the play offs. As the lowest finisher from the division above they were in them and we relegated them on their own ground.

I don't think there was a single minibus or coach with all its windows left in on the journey back.

Other than that, Bradford league cup, Leicester FA cup and Anfield.

Pisa away in the Anglo Italian cup, coach through France and a stop for a piss in Monaco, alcohol ban at our hotel for city fans and a cigarette and tobacco shortage because of a strike of some sort, expensive taxis and then we lost about 4 or 5 nil,Gary Shelton came onto our coach before we left to give some girl who broke her arm his shirt.

No doubt about it Torquay United 2004 - 5 season.     0 - 4   City (Lita 3 and Heffernan).

Had a gallon of guiness that day, brilliant, brilliant away experience. We thought the best bit was sitting by the harbour quaffing beers and reluctantly climbed up the hill to Plainmoor. However there was more to come. We found the ground the swathed in sea mist rolling in off the Channel. Amazingly the game was on. The ref must have had x-ray vision to allow it because standing at the middle of the ground it was impossible to see either goal!. Lita scored a hatrick but I didn't see any of them!

****ing brilliant.

Far to many great away days to mention but Rovers in the cup when we beat them at the IKEA stadium and Chester away when we were promoted really stand out as important times in our history when we were really on the way back and Newport away when it could have been our last game was a bizzare day, when you went away back in those days you seemed to know everyone else, some great times following City away back then, not always huge numbers but rarely a dull moment, still nod my head to fans from that era at the Gate I havent a clue what some of their names are.

From a policing memory :

fulham away waiting on the banks of the river and hearing the wurzels at full blast followed by the sight of a boat full of red shirts and flags. Tourists taking photos everywhere

Man City away- great atmosphere especially at half time

Bradford away when city won 6-0 ? and guaranteed promotion. One of the spotters we took with us was a die hard rovers fan, he hated every second

for rovers :

derby away, massive away allocation and very loud

chelsea away with rovers fans everywhere , really hot day in London with fans collapsing through heat everywhere but not wanting to leave !?

fgr and raw chicken drumsticks being requested to be cooked at the kiosks by rovers fans, very funny  ??

Millwall most recently was pretty good tbh. "I see the East End are rising" blaring out through London Bridge station.

Fulham away (the Tomlin winner and the 4-0), both trips to Newcastle, Reading under GJ and a bit of an odd one but Leyton Orient away just after Cotterill was appointed. 300 odd of us there, they were flying no one expected anything, 10 minutes in we were 2-0 up, end up winning 3-1, bantering with the people living in the flats on the corner of the away end. Great fun.

Millwall away recently, good shout. Enjoyed that one- mind you I don't get away all that often but that's possibly my favourite to date!

Preston away in the rain 4-0 2011 was also quite nice- didn't expect it given our record up there, Caulker played some lovely long range passes from memory. Millwall away probably better though.

Charlton away 2016 quite nice- LJ first game albeit I credit Pemberton with the win but a new manager being announced likely gave everyone a lift. The away pub- hotel or some such- was right near the ground which was quite nice.

Arsenal and Coventry in the old first division we’re epic and I count myself lucky to have been at both.

But for the shear joy and unexpectedness it has to be the 1983 FA cup 1-0 down 2-1 up game against Rovers.

I understand why so many of our younger fans have picked the relative recent big cup games ,but they are very unfortunate not to really have experienced the old rivalry with Rovers that was such a part of my teenage years.

Glad these games / events have generated lasting memories for you, however I personally have no wish whatsoever to hear anything remotely complementary about the Blue Few...

1. Mansfield 4 City 5 - When we pulled it back to 4-4, my mate Jim jumped so high, he straddled the seat in front of him and crushed his plums.  Saw the 5th goal through tears of laughter which quickly turned to joy.

2. Notts County 4 City 4 - bizarre game which Steve Jones got substituted after 18 minutes because he was so God-awful.  Some brilliant goals though including 2 (?) Mickey Bell screamers.

3. WBA 2 City 2 - kicked off in the ground, real menace but great game which we conceded late.  I think both Testimetanu and Mickey Bell got injured that day.

4. Birmingham 0 City 4 - Scenes!

5,. Millwall 2 City 3 - Possibly the best own goal i've ever seen (Atteveldt).  This may have been the time I was so drunk I paid to go in the home end and had to be escorted round.

Was that the evening game in the sun. Already relegated, Akinbiyi ran himself into the ground and our chairman stood amongst us?

If it was then it was good.

Along with Liverpool away - despite having my Mini broken into and driving back in the rain without a drivers door window - the Murray Cardiff game with my now ex-wife with pies and piss thrown at us for 90 minutes, and all away games with the boy - his first JPT at Wembley where I made him do homework at half time through to Hull last game of this season. He keeps me sane!
