Silvio Dante
Browsing the Guardian this evening, I seem to have missed it was the annual Subbuteo convention...! https://www.theguardian.com/games/2019/may/19/subbuteo-table-football-game-collectors-fair-renishaw-derbyshire?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other My 7 year old is into this already and keeps pestering me for a Bristol City set. Was it @spudski who paints these as a hobby?
Davefevs
Yes it is / was. Great to hear a modern day kid likes Subbuteo, not FIFA.

Both unfortunately mate. Between those and Match Attax I’m nigh on bankrupt!
wendyredredrobin
Don't get all this table football and computer football malarkey. What's wrong with getting out and getting your feet muddy these days? Probably not though as even some of the pitches kids play on seem to be synthetic now (and the balls don't weigh half a ton when they are wet any more). Glad to hear your 7 year old is into it. It's a great hobby and great friendships can be forged from it. As the article says...it's absolutely massive in Italy. And there was an Interview with Gigi Buffon on TV last week asking him what he's going to be doing in retirement....'playing and collecting Subbuteo'.
