Another club in financial trouble

Three clubs very close, especially Bury, to Manchester. Could part of the problem be people, especially youngsters,  in those towns swallowing the hype and watching their football at City or United?

So have the Class of 92 done a good thing with Salford City or should they have helped Bury instead?

Abd when the Man U players lose interest in Salford, will they be another club to fold?

I cannot see why they thought that Greater Manchester needed another League club, especially one that is figuratively speaking, only a goal kick away from Old Trafford.

The one and only genuine thing in the area is United of Manchester F.C.

So if that render or artist impression of the AG's new development is correct we are looking at a single arrival badge for a hitherto non existent basketball team and total ignorance for Bristol City and Bristol Rugby? I do hope the relevant badges are adorned to prominent positions next season.

As for Bury and Bolton; that will be an interesting football fixture next season; protesting supporters all around the ground if the matches actually happen.

Greater Manchester has 10 administrative boundaries and, since Salford are now a league team, only 2 of them do not have a league team; Tameside and Stockport who of course will be back one day! In Tameside you have Stalybridge, Hyde and Droylsden amongst others; all recently in the upper echelons of non league football. With a population of 2.8 million and 8 football league teams compared to London's 8.8 million and 11 football league teams it is easy to see why some make the case for there being too many teams to share support in Manchester. Like anything though it is survival of the fittest and it is not as if Salford and Bury are anywhere near each other inside Greater Manchester; Salford will be pulling support from Man Utd and Man City or complimenting it; I do not think those two will be too bothered, at least not yet. Bury and Bolton on the other hand are quite close in the North of Greater Manchester so perhaps both of them being in financial difficulty suggests different factors are at play other than one pulling support from the other; downright poor management perhaps?

Yes maybe excatly that, I heard that they were cracking down on this with rich people smuggling assets out the country because of the restrictions upon outward capital movement.

Though the effect upon the club of having the money and being unable to give it to the club through capital controls is the same as having the money and being unwilling to give it to the club.

Interesting, and gives a different slant on the fit and proper persons test - the owners may very likely be proper people, but because of financial controls in their country of residence they are not actually "fit" to run a football club because they cannot provide funding.

Agreed- when it comes to fit and proper in financial sense.

Probably doesn't apply in this, but "fit and proper" can be very open to interpretation, finance aside. Suppose it is just a judgement on legal convictions and ability to access the wealth.

If applied with different criteria though, I dare say quite a few PL owners would fail it. Abramovich and the Sheikhs for 2. Glazers for loading debt, legal though it is, for a third. That's just the biggest clubs too.

To stress, they haven't been convicted of anything and they certainly pay the bills- easily good enough for Fit and Proper as constituted, but if applied differently that might be a different story...

Didn't someone once say that....

'FOOTBALL WILL EAT ITSELF'  ?

what we see is what we choose

what we keep or what we lose - forever

the World is ours to tear apart

but what if its too late to start again?

Don't Let It Die

Don't Let It Die

or say

GOODBYE FOREVER!
