How many true club legends do we have?

Reading the fantastic Peter John Atyeo thread (never knew his first name was Peter before) has led me to ponder how many legends we have.

Ok, so this is very subjective, and unless I'm mistaken, there is no clear definition for a Club Legend.

But who can we all agree on?

I'll start with John Atyeo as the clear and obvious, and will add Brian Tinnion to the list as my personal club legend.  I feel that Tinman has to be a legend, due to time served as a quality player for us, and for his continuing work with the City youth players.  I'll forgive him his time as a manager!

Clearly there are many others in the history of City - but I don't want to start this thread just listing them from my wobbly memory, so who would you suggest?

Some Wedlock bloke from a few years back?  Never seen him play but OTIB were very critical of his early games.

My father saw him play and told me he was a very good footballer. To get the number of England caps he did, even in those far off days, tells me that, without doubt, he deserves to be a City legend.

Didn't take long for the idiots to join in!

One for the future?

Carey is seldom the first name that springs to mind when threads such as this arise on OTIB. For some reason fans, including me, never seemed to warm to him as much as they have say, to Scotty.

Louis of course deserves recognition in everyone’s list.

John Galley would always make my own top twenty as would Chris Garland.

Anybody with over 400 appearances which means roughly over 10 years at the club could be a good place to start

1 Louis Carey1995–2004; 2005–2014, 646

2 John Atyeo1951–1966, 645

3 Trevor Tainton1967–1982.  581

4 Brian Tinnion1993–2005, 551

5 Tom Ritchie1972–1981; 1983–1985, 504

6 Gerry Sweeney1971–1981, 490

7 Rob Newman1981–1991, 483

8 Gerry Gow1969–1981, 445

I guess it’s how the word ‘legend’ is interpreted.
