The goal for Cameroon is exactly why VAR should be scrapped. No one really cares about an inch here or there - absolutely killing the game and the emotion of scoring what would have been a crucial goal.

I think a simple effective thing is to for each team to one review per game (if we have use VAR - personally would scrap it now).

Offside is offside? As the men found out against Holland.

if VAR wasn’t in use and the linesman flags, the commentators would watch the replay and say what a great decision he/she’s made.

May well be the right decision, but offside by 2 inches is a joke. If the camera angle is correct there is too many variables in a tight decision like that. Camera angle, when ball is played,  momentum of players to say the decision is correct.

Surely there is a grey area in the middle where the evidence is inconclusive and you stick with the decision made on the pitch.  Like in cricket where you have umpire's call for LBWs or in Rugby where the referee asks 'is there any reason I can't award a try?'

No sympathy for Cameroon whatsoever. The first goal was a free kick to England by the rules (Toolstation League keepers would have kicked that away rather than pick it up). The second was onside no argument, Cameroon’s goal was offside by the rules whether we agree with them or not. The third goal, what can they moan about there?

The only things VAR missed was the blatant elbow that should have seen a Cameroon player sent off and the blatant penalty England should just have been given!!

Agree that VAR needs a huge review, no doubt about that, but Cameroon have been petulant and have let themselves down.

Absolutely should be, just like umpire's call in the cricket.

As it is VAR is just awful.

It needs looking at no doubt but anyone who thinks Cameroon have somehow been robbed needs their eyes testing.

Should have three challenges a game, with the sanction of a lost challenge if the original call is maintained. Keep it for offside decisions as that is an objective decision.

Not being able to hear the referee's discussions is a major issue.  It will only ever lead to suspicions.  In rugby it definitely helps hearing discussions between ref and TMO.  You can even buy ref radios at matches.  Should have copied what they do far closer - but then football is run by really, really questionable organisations..

This game is enthralling for the wrong reasons -

VAR … Right, wrong, not used for serious foul play, fifteen minutes of stoppage time ...

The incompetence of the referee

Cameroon doing their best to reinforce negative stereotypes and damage womens football.

And for me a first seeing players crying in attempt to influence the referee.

Awful and brilliant second half really. Ref lost control.

Might be being very unfair, but this team reminds me a fair bit of the men’s team in the last WC. Cannot knock the results, but left with the feeling when they come up against one of the top teams they will really struggle. Hopefully they can find that extra gear or two they are going to need.

OMG! there’s going to be a lot of missed trains if we had to suffer 6 or more VAR per game. The solution is much simpler - get rid of it, eliminate it, expunge it, eradicate it, kill it.

The penalty probably wasn’t given because FIFAs lawyer told the ref to stuff VAR and avoid a lawsuit.
