4 year deals

Is this a new tactic by the club to secure players or is a 4 year deal just the old 3 + 1 as an option?

If it is the former, it seems like a good move on the face of it. With the kind of players we are generally signing,  (players with potential who are hoping will improve) under a 3 year deal there is maybe a season or so of getting them up to speed /game time, either here or elsewhere, then hopefully a full year of first team football. But then you have a 3rd year where you are perhaps trying to get players to sign new contracts, whilst under the cloud of them leaving for free, being poached for small sums, or going to tribunal depending on their age.

To me the 4 year deal, gives us more time with a player, allowing more time for them to established and if they are really in demand or wish to leave, we have greater scope in negotiating a decent price.

It could also be a cunning way to keep our wages costs down .

Spread the cost over four years and not two or three .

Think 3+1 deals were announced as 3 year deals but the club option mentioned.

May be wrong on that.

Younger players with real talent normally get longer deals and then improved deals Fynwy progress, better then offering them to older pro’s like we did in the past

That sounds very Welsh to me
