We're only spending 1-2 days in Florence (over the 1st September weekend) and then plan to see Lucca and Siena, but the majority of our time in smaller towns and villages for a lot of trekking/cycling/wine tasting/kayaking etc!

If we can fit in Bologna, we'll try.

Still awaiting Serie A fixtures - yet mayb be waiting till August as others have suggested!

We went to Florence in that week last year, weather was immense, especially on the rooftop pool at our hotel! https://www.glancehotelflorence.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuI3ltIWl4wIVTbHtCh30YQ_WEAAYAiAAEgLLaPD_BwE

Yeh, a nice problem to have though!  We always go to this place Via de' Musei, 2, 40124 Bologna BO, Italy
https://goo.gl/maps/U2QaeQEt2nYgY5Cv9 beautiful little square just off the Piazza Maggiore.

Basically anywhere around there is great.  It’s all about the fresh pasta in Bologna!

This place is also great and close to the towers, there are 3/4 restaurants here, but a beautiful setting:

We stay at the Savoia Hotel on the outskirts which has a good restaurant called Gargonelli’s, I saw Inter Milan last year as they were staying in the hotel before playing Bologna!

Enjoy!

Thanks for that, will definitely add it to the list of places to see! Very near where we’re staying (Via San Vitale near Due Torri)

Fixtures:

Announced 29th or 30th July.

Tickets:

If you’re in Florence a day or two before the game it’s easier to buy tickets there. Info:

http://en.violachannel.tv/club-box-office.html

I’ve bought tickets twice from Chiosco degli Sportivi,  Via Anselmi. Just off Piazza della Repubblica.

Take your passports when buying and to the match as others have noted.

Eat:drink near the ground:

Ristorante Pizzeria da Graziano / Pizzeria Stadio right outside the main stand on Viale Manfredo Fanti. Full of Fiorentina memorabilia, photographs and fans. Before the game a marquee on the pavement outside serves as an extension of the restaurant. Basic, simple food served before the game.

The ground:

The Curva Fiesoleis where the Fiorentina ultras watch the game from. The design of the stadium is such that the Curve at each end are much further away from the pitch than is usual. (This was originally to accommodate a straight 200m running track in front of the main stand.) Your sight lines will be quite (very) shallow if you buy in either curve.

Getting there:

I caught a local train from SM Novellato Campo di Marte station, and walked over the large footbridge to the ground. Reverse journey after the game. V easy.

Have a look at this:
