So seems like Monaco don't want to lose him. But he put in transfer request. So he's choosing us over them. Wow we really are massive now. Makes sense that a player wants to come here with an easy route to prem football once they prove themselves.

Interesting that just 2 days ago LJ said in his carpool interview with Ali on Points West that foreign players know who we are now because of our cup run and how we went into 68 countries when we beat Man Utd. I don’t think we can underestimate what that cup run did for our credibility.

Chelsea under a transfer ban.

City build a good relationship with Chelsea.

City suddenly appear to be able to sign a ‘wonder kid’ from Monaco...

Not saying for one second they are behind it, but there is certainly logic there.

It’s ..... a football discussion forum

This signing would be completely left field and intriguing for a number of reasons

I think the thread is quite interesting

Cannot work out if this one is genius, madness, or both. I suppose only time will tell. For every young starlet that goes on to become a Rooney, there are a fair few who do not develop in the way everyone hopes. It is at the very least one heck of a gamble, but exciting too, cannot deny..

It’s the first day of the season, we are on a new adventure there will be plenty of time for getting a grip after a couple of defeats. This is what OTIB is all about. Excitement about random rumours, conspiracy theories and dream scenarios to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Then in come the doom and gloom merchants about as welcome as a wake-up call from mum on a Monday morning before school.

Have fun enjoy life it’s all on OTIB !

8 pages in 10 hours is pretty good going ?

To save me reading through the previous 8 pages, where has this link to Chelsea come from? Is there a credible source or is it just rumours?

Purely conjecture on my part but good fun on a Sunday morning and not beyond the realms of possibility.

Too late. If he doesn't live up to his 'wonderkid' status after his first game OTIB will lynch him and there will be MA, LJ out posts everywhere not to mention people furious that we didn't spend the money on other positions.

Scouts often work for more than one club. I have met several scouts for Premier League clubs who pass on reports of players that are not taken up by their preferred club. Scouts can be like agents that have different requirements for different clients.

It’s not like he was playing for a third tier Icelandic team, he’s been playing in games that were broadcast in the UK. An extensive scouting team wasn’t needed.

Think this lad played at Toulon Tournament

Didnt Jamie McCallister go to France ( with a number of other coaches on his course ) to watch games s part of his UEFA Pro Licence ?

Bob, there is a lot about this deal that just adds up. As you say Jamie Mac scouted the Toulon Tournament plus we just employ a French speaking coach who just happens to have played this lad’s position. This lad has been monitored and the are acting professionally to help him settle and grow.

Our transfer department really has improved so is it a shock we get such large sums now for our players?

It’s a intriguing one for various reasons

I don’t think this will be our first ‘ left field ‘ signing of this week

(No knowledge - just following the developments)

Weve scouted that Tournament for years, so it wasn't unusual for us to be there this summer... as do most Clubs of significants. It's regarded as the one to go to.

Same old city. Looking to be cheap with an unknown. All that money made and they try and buy an unknown child

You realise the complete contradiction and stupidity you’ve created in your own words there .... do you ?

Silly question really

Yep... don't ask about Des Kelly being like an agent though ?

Thanks Spudski, was unaware we scout there regularly. That really does show how far we have come. There are very good young talents at the Toulon.
