elhombrecito
CITY SIGN PEREIRA ON SEASON LOAN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7TH 2019 City have named Pedro Pereira as their 10th signing of the summer. The Portuguese right-back joins the Robins on a season-long loan with the option to purchase from Benfica. Pereira, 21, was part of the Benfica squad which won the Primeira Liga in 2016/17, making one appearance in a 2-2 draw with Boavista en route to their record 36th title. He spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan with Italian Serie A side Genoa, returning to the club for a second loan spell for the duration of the 2018/19 campaign and it was there that the Portugal youth international caught the eye of City. Chief Executive Officer Mark Ashton said: “We have been watching Pedro for some time and we are delighted he has joined us for the season. He is an exceptional young talent who will definitely add to Lee’s defensive options. “This loan signing is another example that Bristol City are able to do business with the big clubs around Europe and reflects our ambition and stature in the modern game.” City Head Coach Lee Johnson commented: “I’m very pleased to be working with a player of Pedro’s talent and potential. He’s young but has played in the top leagues in Portugal and Italy and we are confident he will be a great asset to the right-back position.” Pereira will wear the number 32 shirt and links up with his teammates ahead of the Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Birmingham City this Saturday (August 10th, 3pm KO).
