Phileas Fogg
14 minutes ago, Jacki said: I think that’s a harsh view on Reid. He didn’t tear it up in the Premier League with Cardiff but I was one of many people at the time who thought he just wasn’t the type of player who’d fit a Warnock team. As for the one season wonder thing, he only really played regularly up front for us in that one season. The rest of the time he was in and out of the side playing much deeper. He always looked promising but that move higher up the pitch seemed to unlock his potential in a way which surpassed all expectations. He might not be able to repeat that form, but equally he might prove to be a master stroke of a signing. I don’t believe that signing Reid would be a sentimental decision. In many ways it would be pragmatic. He knows the way we play, fits the system and knows the club, manager and players. I would be all for his return for those reasons. Cardiff fans don't like the idea of him leaving either. That says a lot. Very hard for a player like Reid to shine in a team with Cardiff's style fighting relegation. Seems a strange signing in hindsight.

Only being reported at a national level by Nixon and O'Rouke who, although are fairly high-profile and respectable, aren't exactly City or Cardiff specialists. handsofclay
I would imagine Bobby Reid, if he signs for us, will not be shown on the roof as he has seen it plenty of times already when he has followed the ball after one of Fammy's shots or Tomlin's penalties. So now he plays out of position out wide where he offers very little, stealing the place of a genuine midfielder with impact. The truth is, for all the brilliantly hilarious emoji responses to me from the masses on OTIB yesterday, if the fans are so wildly enamoured with Weimann and he offers so much going forward - why is everybody desperate for a striker? With the stats you’ve stated, he’s the answer, no? I think there are some of us that think that unless you can get better than Weimann, don’t bother signing anyone else. There are quite a lot of us who think Weimann is better suited to LJ’s one up top than the player he keeps picking (Diedhiou). I think the £5.3m millstone is round both Fam and LJ’s neck. In fairness to Fam he has played better away from home, and maybe that clouds LJ’s judgement. I see the recruitment of technical midfielders that would want to play off of Fam, but can’t because he can’t do that. i think Weimann is much better suited to the way LJ says he wants to play. Weimann’s record as the striker (on his own) far outweighs Fam’s. As a pair their records are fairly even....as a RW it’s shit. LJ needs to pick players “in position” and on merit. 2 hours ago, Agard Days Night said: Please see my response above if you’ve got time. Ben4BCFC
I find it baffling the amount of people saying that because Reid has only done it once in the Championship we shouldn't sign him. When Tammy had a good season, everyone wanted him to stay. Imagine if we were offered Pukki or McBurnie? Reid has only had one season in the Championship as a striker, after some hard work from both him and LJ, and he was only 24 so unsurprisingly wasn't the finished article before that. People expect 20 goal a season strikers from 18-19-20 and that just isn't that common. And during that year with us, he was unplayable at times. He wasn't utilised correctly by Warnock in the Prem so it's not really a fair judgment on that. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. Look how many people would have taken Tammy back after one good season in the Champ and then a failed season with Swansea in the Prem? People say our view of wanting him back is clouded by sentiment and the fact that he's played for us before; but I'd be tempted to say it's the same sentiment that is making people not want him. A fair few opposition supporters like him which, to me, says he's not as bad as people on here make out. Maybe, as mentioned elsewhere, he's more effective away from home plus I think his defensive assistance would be missed if he were to leave. That said, we are very player heavy now and further additions must surely mean a few are due to leave.
