Phileas Fogg

Bobby Reid - Gone to Fulham on Loan

Recommended Posts

It's not 'wishful thinking' - it's a rumour. It's been tweeted by a journalist who specialises on transfers.

No, it may not be a rumour of EN was still on. But things change quickly (as we've seen today). The tweet says this transfer is the result of a knock-on from Cardiff signing Vassell - so may have not even been possible before today.

Well I hope-you’re right, but journalists do post shite....

“Still 0-0 here at Ashton Gate, 93rd minute. Bristol City on the ball with Eliasson, he plays a through ball in to Reid, Bobby has beaten flint for pace as the 6ft 6 man falls to the floor trying to turn around, Reid’s through on goal, OH AND HE’S SCORED, UNBELIEVABLE SCENES. FANS ARE FALLING OVER THE ADVERTISING BOARD AS REID PATS HIS HEAD IN FRONT OF THE AWAY END. Neil Warnock's on his knees. You just love to see it”

It’s a yes from me.

Except if it’s a loan deal they will have a no play against us deal. But I do like your story

Never go back,

reid currently is a one season wonder,

but realistically I think put him in our side now he’d score goals,

he also had a great partnership with fammy so would leave him less isolated

Not even sure he could do it again

As I’ve said before it worked out OK with Scotty Murray and Carey!

 now you're being silly. I'm just saying that after the Nketiah disappointment, Reid wouldn't cut it for me - especially as I think Gayle is within our reach.

Steve Bruce has said he wants Gayle to stay at Newcastle

If we can't get a Vydra/Gayle, Bobby would be the next best thing for sure.

At least we'd know that he'd give his all for the club and fit straight in. Don't understand why people are saying no to this one, i'd be more than happy.

Murray was never as good when he came back as he was the season prior to being sold

Where is @BS4 on Tour... ?

Now is your time!

I’m here, as I’ve said several times, all I know is that he was on the verge of coming back here in January on loan before the tragic plane crash scuppered that move ...

Reid has to be on a fair whack nowadays mind

Yes probably but not to tune Newcastle are paying . He was apparently on a pretty low wage here comparatively and it depends if Cardiff owe us anymore payments for him that could be offset.

Would much rather Robert than those two over the hill mercenaries. Would he count as homegrown too?

Reid and Diedhiou were an amazing partnership that would have been the best in the league that year had Fammy not got injured.

Very doubtful he would come back though, we all seem to be clutching at straws now that Nketiah has parred us off

He had a truly outstanding season but hardly shit in the rest was he? Even first season back at Championship he scored some corkers

Feels like desperation if we’re looking at this route.

I think that's where we are now. It would certainly give us something different up front. What I've seen of the home games recently, I'd settle for something different.

Would this count towards home developed or whatever it is?

Yes, would be our mandatory one “club developed” player....you gave to have 7 home-grown.  I’ve been using the wrong lingo until I looked it up earlier.

So, Bobby £9m on a 4 year deal....a year into.  Offer them £6m....still need to work something out Re his wages.  Allegedly went for £30-35k per week....will’ve Lost 40-50% on a relegation clause....so within our £20k structure.

I wouldn't say no to an eventual team like this.

Formation.PNG

I would, Weimann is wasted on the right and Reid is not a solo striker, when he did well for us he did it as a part of a two, when he was on his own he was highly ineffective.

I don’t think Bruce holds the purse strings at Newcastle somehow?

Cardiff have signed Vassell today so pushes him further down the pecking order

Loved Bobby when he made his debut

Loved him when I saw him play  for Plymouth

Loved him when he was our top scorer

Loved him when I saw him boss the midfield against Man Utd last season in the Prem

Would love him back

Didn't he score 27 goals (or something stupid like that) that prior season ?

Hard to live up to that.

One season wonder?

19 appearances and 5 goals, in the Premier League, in a Neil Warnock team that were odds on to be relegated.

I don't know who Cardiff have bought in this summer or if Reid is likely to have been pushed down the pecking order as a result, but you can guarantee that they won't let him go on the cheap. If they owe us for the transfer in the first place, then there's a chance that something could happen, but they're not stupid, especially after the Tomlin transfer.....

Personally though, I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Come home Bobby. Please. You will prevent  many middle aged men on here lose their minds.

Today has been shit re EK. Return of the Bob would be like getting an unexpected  massive boner after trapping your dick in the zipper of ur jeans

Don’t quite get this never go back argument, completely depends on the situation and seeing as Bobby isn’t 32 or had a serious injury recently, I see no issue.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Sorry I'm in the minority here. It's a definite no from me.

Reasons

1. Think his goal scoring season for us was a one off.

2. I don't think he is anywhere near as talented as Nkeitah.

3. He isn't a number 9. More a false 9 or 10

4. Weimann is a better player in the same role if given the chance

5. He jumped at the chance to join Cardiff

6. Basically we should be looking for better and a proper out and out striker

Not a chance this will happen. Didn’t he more than quadruple his wages when he left for the sheep molesters?

Not sure on how much more he's on, but he wouldn't have been on a great amount due to being a fringe midfield player the season before.

We also seemed to have moved on a level with regards to wages, so even with some of the names mentioned between Reid leaving and now, paying him what he is currently on, it would be a hell of a lot less than a Vydra, Assombalonga, Gayle etc.

We don’t , wed play a different way. We played our best football when fam was injured. Bobby being joined up top by pato when we had the ball and josh supporting. We were more fluid.

LJ has been trying to replace Reid since he left. Weimann was bobbys replacement .

The quadrupled his wages

Yeah I heard from a good source it was £45k odd. Must’ve been relegation clauses in there though. Not sure how they generally work but if it’s a 40/50% reduction then he’s in range I’d imagine.

No, he almost certainly had a wage reduction clause upon relegation. As @Davefevs said further up the thread.

Also, if he’s sold before his contract ends without requesting a transfer, isn’t he entitled to the full amount Cardiff offered him in the contract? Meaning they’d top up any difference anyway?
