Benik Afobe - SIGNING CONFIRMED

it's clearly Plan T though, which is the real worry

Stoke signed Scott Hogan yesterday. It's possible they weren't willing to let Afobe go until that move happened.

I've liked Afobe for years and if he finds his form I'm confident he'll be very good for us.

8 goals in 46 games for Stoke

and people said Fam didnt score enough...

Stoke had a great season as well...

Surprised he is only 26 seems to have been around for a longer time than that.

Very talented player a couple or three years ago, hopefully he still has it - much more mobile than Diedhiou.

Feels like Holly Willoughby turned me down and I’ve ended up without Anne Widdicombe, clinging to the faint hope that she might at least be a good cook.

THIS is the one to trot out if he turns out to be good.

He’s been our number target for a very long time. We’re very happy to get this over the line

I can see Ashton spouting this , the spins going to be incredible

Given the day we've had this is better than nothing.  If he finds his form he could be an astute signing, if he doesn't we send him back. Low risk for city.

Hmm well im on the fence , im a little underwhelmed but he has lots of experience at this level , i see him more of compeition then the no.9 at this level .

Hopefully we can get the best out of him though sadly wont stop our players from hoofing the ball!

i'd say it's fairly big risk as there's gonna be a shit load of pressure on him to be our best striker now, people broadly dont rate Fam or Taylor to score enough to take us up & Lansdown is adamant we need to finish 6th.

If you take minutes played its actually 8 in the equivilent of 33 games, certainly has ability though if we can get the best out of him

This is obviously a gamble, considering recent form, but probably fits the bill for proven number 9 more than most in reality. Would much rather have a player slightly low on confidence but with proven goalscoring record than a player who was injury prone.

Powerful, can score goals, go for it. If he can be as good as Chris Iwelumo, love it.

Now I've settled down and thought about it, I'd rather have had Nketiah and I'm not going to pretend otherwise but I think I prefer this move to Wells or Rhodes, am as happy as I would have been with Wickham or Hugill and probably think it more sensible that an unproven striker. Hopefully Afobe feels he has a point to prove.

No matter who we signed people would have complained...

He can score goals at this level and had good pedigree. Happy with this

Might turn out decent, might not. We do however have one more option than it looked like we might have just an hour ago.

Welcome.

Sorry you are incorrect, the loan window closed the same time, you can only sign a unattached player

This really is get and body rather than no one, not impressed

I clearly know jack shit 😂

Not the player we wanted but if we get his best form out of him could be a v good addition. Let’s give him a chance and get behind him....

Loan window isn’t shut until 31st I believe.

Loan window shuts at the same time. Inbound at least, we can still ship players out- abroard outright for permanent signings or indeed loans to lower Leagues or some foreign Leagues but dates will vary with all these.
