Would be very brave of Johnson to start four new signings!

Not so bad with Pack and Pato going. Hopefully Watkins may drop to L1 next week. @BobBobSuperBob is that window still open for a bit as I think I read that on the forum too? ?

Think the squad is fairly well balanced now tho not sure if Baker and Rowe are great back up should Dasilva get injured.

My main concern is the lack of leaders on the pitch. With no K Smith or Wright as regular starters I can only really see Kalas being someone who will be a 'leader' now that Pack has gone.

Not upset with MP and JP going!  Their replacements can’t be any worse. At least our build up play won’t go from side to side and back two or three times before we go forward.

Bristol City go backwards 31% of the time, or were. Liverpool and Man City go backwards more. Six out of ten of Man City passes do not go backwards, but four will. Replacements could be far worse, or better. Henderson and Fernandinho go backwards more than Pack, I think we could agree they are not worse than Pack. You will see what I have done there. Improvement can be keeping the ball in build up play even more.

With midfeiders

If by overloaded you mean 2 players for every type of position in midfield you'd have a point.

But I suspect your point is a negative one, in which case I'd reply that you can never have enough midfielders - that way you can rotate to ensure energy levels, both when in and out of possession, can be maintained because it's asking too much for the same 2 or 3 players to play 46 games and maintain energy, energy, energy. From the little we know about the likes of Massengo and Nagy, they are players who pass and move, pass and move, pass and move. I suspect this will be the new style we attempt this season - much more mobile. On that basis, it wasn't a co-incidence that, for all their qualities - and I liked both of them - 2 of our least high energy midfielders were allowed to leave yesterday (not sure I like the idea of them joining strong teams in our own division but there we are).
