Afaic. the end of the season for the purposes of this comp. was always the last day of regular Championship fixtures, which turned out to be 22/7. Play offs were deliberately not included.

Was Matty still our player on 22/7, or do we assume his City contract had expired (iirc. the end of June seems to be the generally accepted expiry date for contracts) and Oxford were retaining him? Hopefully City wouldn't have been paying him to appear for Oxford unless his contract expiry date was extended due to the oddity of this season? It may well have been.

In which case did his City contract expire after the L1 play off final (on 13/7), which, in any case, was before our final League game, or was it extended even though he was playing for another club outside the dates of his contract?

For all intents and purposes he'd left months ago anyway (never a chance he was going to get another contract to be here next season) so my interpretation would be that he'd gone, even though that may not be 100% factually correct, and who was paying him from July 1st onwards, and whether he'd actually officially left City, is an interesting one - I'm not sure we were ever told.

My take on it is he wasn't a City player on the last day of the regular Championship season but happy to leave it for the majority to decide if that's right.
