Xiled
It's just great to have a new proven striking option. No criticism for Diedhiou's efforts over the last season or so as it's been unfair of us to expect so much of a lone and often isolated striker. With Weimann and Afobe on the pitch together, I can see something that will complement Fam's decent goal to game return - and spread out the fan's expectation. And if Palmer keeps playing like he did today, they'll all get goals.
Admin Ian M Posted August 11, 2019 Admin Report Share Posted August 11, 2019 I'd like to see Lee use all combinations. Much as we poke fun at his "tombola" team selections, Afobe ahead of an attacking midfield 3, Afobe/Fam & Afobe/Weimann present 3 distinctly different approaches and makes it far harder for an opposing manager to come up with a plan to stop us if he doesn't know which style of attacking we will adopt. Not saying Afobe and Diedhiou as a backup or a Plan B but technically, tactically- movement wise- Afobe and Weimann could have a lot to offer! I thought it looked better upfront with Afobe an big Dave we didnt offer a lot with weinmann an Afobe.

A league 2 defender would have dave in his pack pocket. Afobe and weimann or taylor or semanyo though, now that id be worried about as a defender
robin_unreliant
I was also encouraged to see Afobe getting in behind the Brum defence. However I do feel he will need to stick one of those chances in the net sooner rather than later. What he really needs is a confidence boost, not the feeling that he's failing in front of goal.
