I'm not a fan of it as a system unless you've clearly recruited specifically for it as he did. 1 defender for that Ayling role, 2 pure wing backs (not full backs filling in). All three of those types of players are relatively rare - but with Ayling, Bryan, Little, Tavernier - he had an abundance of specialists which made the formation really effective.  

Obviously there are other ways you can play the system, but because we've clearly not recruited for it - I can't really see it working unless we're desperate to nick a point in a tough away game.

Much prefer to see two strikers or some version of a 433.

I always felt we’d be pulled apart once we got promoted and we were. I think you need the best players in the league to be able to pull a 3-5-2 off which we didn’t have in the champ.
