One person has complained to Ofcom and said they are offended by racist words in the song, so Gold have banned it from their playlists. It has been suggested they re-record it with different lyrics, but they have declined and will carry on playing it live in the original version.

Why do people want to erase or rewrite history? The song is 50 years old and about as anti-racist as you can get.

Don't know that piece of music but I just browsed the lyrics and that is an absolutely ridiculous decision.

Just tried to post the song off YouTube so that the those too young to remember Blue Mink can judge for themselves.

I can remember hearing Melting Pot with my buddies back in 1969 We all loved it boldness given that racial abuse was prevalent back then.

Iirc the female singer was Maddy Bell.

Banning a 50 year sold is a sad reflection of PC gone mad.

one of many they've censored at some point or another in recent years - although not currently they've applied the scissors to 'Oliver's Army', 'Jilted John' and 'Fairytale Of New York' in the past.  Banning it because a single person complains is taking things a bit far - somebody could probably take offence to a lyric from every song ever written if they wished.

No you’re not missing anything.

Its the modern day PC brigade that are missing something............:disapointed2se:

Agree,  how could a song about racial harmony be offensive?! Maybe it was the reference about coffee coloured people, perhaps they thought it wasn't free trade coffee or something, God only knows nowadays
