'Knobhead' probably sums up the average football fan's IQ.  I was a passionate City fan from 63 until the mid 80s and then I discovered non league football which is like football used to be.  I am not going to be treated like 'cannon fodder' and exploited by any commercial organisation and that is how football clubs treat their 'customer base'.  Yes I enjoy rugby .... but football these days is a disgrace.  The way, for example, City fans talk about the Welsh is nothing less than racism.  Football is still deeply racist and sexist and needs to grow up.  As I started by saying 'knobhead' sums things up.

Bore off knobhead.

Just been watching the post-Stoke interviews with Jack Hunt and Fammy on the OS.

Both mentioned the importance of the fans' support for the players. Jack said he noticed (and appreciated) our fans clapping them off at half time - even though we were one nil  down at that stage.

So, we really need to turn up the volume on Saturday - for what is our biggest game so far this season.

I think the players are encouraged by LJ and his assistants to mention the fans during interviews  - he himself always mentions us during his interviews home and away. He clearly understands just how important it is to have us behind them and fair play to him for recognising our value to team morale.

Like lots of us long term fans I can’t recall many, if any previous managers who verbally appreciates our support

As a retired company director, I know that without (mainly) happy customers, your business is doomed to fail eventually.

The club are quite right to regard us fans as customers - who should be respected and appreciated.

If LJ is encouraging this attitude by the players (as you suggest Robbored), then long may it continue.

That might be down to some fans with young children boycotting the game due to the potential for trouble.

I think this particular reason is very unlikely to account for 1,500 people.  During the game at least, you are pretty well insulated from any trouble up in the family area (another good reason for it to be up there imho).  Though granted the issue is more pertinent at full time.

On that note, I don't understand why away fans are rarely (if ever?) held back?  Would seem sensible to do that on Saturday after what happened last year.  @JulieH?

Someone may well correct me on this but I've read in varied places that there was some human rights case but also that it has in the past caused more issues than it solves. It sounds like a simple catchall solution but isn't always the case.

You might want to read this, offers an interesting counterview and is relevant in terms of risk of games comparison.

Ticket prices of £34 - £42 for adult non-members will have an effect.

23k is still good.

Not sure why you got the aubergine reaction.

Bringing daughter back to UWE this weekend so  bought tickets for me and Mrs RR. Have to admit though that I balked at the total cost. if it wasn't for the fact we were going to be in Bristol I would struggle to justify the cost. Also bought tickets for Brentford but by way of comparison they are only £26.

It was a bit weird :D

The ticket prices are the major factor that we don't get more in the ground, seems obvious to me.

Which ones that? Public transport provision?

I think the bard my be some what cynically referring to the planning condition that the club will have to pay for a residents parking scheme in Ashton if we get promoted or there are 3 games in 5 that has an attendance of 25k plus.

I believe this actually occurred when we played united, city and wolves in 17/18 but the club argued that although the attendances published were above 25k, there wasn’t physically 25k in the ground. They got away with it!

As such the club could restrict tickets available so that we don’t meet the condition.

Move away fans to upper Dolman, charge a premium if necessary, leave Atyeo for walk up pay on the day City fans. At the moment away fans get the option of a reasonably priced seat while City fans have to pay a premium to sit in one of the side stands which are always more expensive.

So we have to segregate the concourse of the ground and the upper and lower Dolman as well as stopping people being able to walk all the way around the horseshoe just so that some daytrippers may or may not turn up to sit in the shittest seats?

Makes no sense tbh.

I realise the logistics would be a challenge but with respect it isn't a few day trippers, S82 would probably relocate, also we are talking about why we aren't selling out, one reason is the lack of cheaper seats available to home supporters who can't afford season tickets.

And then what about the thousands of season ticket holders, some of whom have been in the dolman for many years. Who would have to move to the more expensive lansdown if they want a similar view?

Away fans are placed in the perfect place currently, and until the stadium is updated further, they shouldn’t be moved.

The dolman wings are decent price for championship football, if we are averaging 21k with the current prices, why should we drop them to bring 2-3k more fans through the gate? It makes little financial sense

You can buy a season ticket by way of Monthly Direct Debit. A £400* ST is then £40 per month for 10 months. (£10 per week)

If you have 2 games per month that’s £20 per game.

What is the cheapest POTD these days?

Gonna have to play the pedant here. The way you constructed the sentence, you attributed all of the absences (i.e all 1500) to some of the fans in a particular demographic (i.e those with young kids).

That’s not the same as attributing some of the absences to all fans in a particular demographic.

Not quite sure how you came to that conclusion. I thought it was simple enough to understand.

I did forward ideas from both Swansea and city fans to both the command team and the safety team for discussion around a hold back .a decision was made not to have a pre arranged hold back . Lots of implications around human rights and necessity were discussed .

It is still a tactic that could be considered on the day if necessary , and information suggests  this tactic will prevent further disorder and keep people safe .

I don't mean to have a personal dig at you @JulieH, but if the scenes last season were not enough to warrant the Swansea support being held back, how bad would it have to get for it to happen?

Not that I have any specialised knowledge, but can hold backs actually exacerbate a situation? Counter-intuitive though it sounds.

Sorry but I already posted this on another topic but it is madness to let both sets of fans out at same time it’s only a 10 minute gap required to move fans along before away fans are brought out under escort. Prevention has to be better than dealing with 2 sets fans that now have history
