Really surprised Alex Carey didn't make the Aussie squad, may have a poor first class average but he's in great form

Good day to have off today! Predictions for lunch score? 67/3 I reckon. Root would have bowled I think

Or having Sky Go available

First instinct seems it'll be okay for batting on, but weather conditions to help bowlers, 91/1 at lunch I reckon Bancroft to go early, Warner/Smith to dig in for a bit

Guerilla Cricket- excellent listen if you're stuck at work.

They have varied jingles and I liked their new one- to the tune of "Waltzing Matilda"- "Ball Tampering Bancroft"!

Will post a link if I can find it! :laughcont:

The pessimist in me has Australia batting deep into day 2, and our bowlers getting a hiding. Then again, I don't really have any history of correct predictions.

Bat close to the ground wouldn't swayed against it

muppets, no one picked up on him jumping and batting out his crease? Of course Broad's going to want it reviewed, especially after the edge not being reviewed so he should be told to shut up

Lets hope the first 20 mins is a sign of things to come in this series. Superb stuff.

I gotta be honest, when I seen they’d won the toss, I’m surprised they elected to bat! First day of an Ashes series with an underwhelming batting line-up, away from home where the crowd are going to be on your back (especially 3 of them), I would of elected to bowl first if I was Australian (which luckily enough I’m not).

True, but they would have been destroyed in the outfield too

Nowhere to hide at Edgbaston

But Warner & Smith would be in the slips & Bancroft at short-leg so they would of all been kept away from the crowd especially with none of them being bowlers.

But hey, who am I to moan at their decision? I’m more than happy with the first hour of the series.

Were not going to get Smith out again are we. Dejavu

I do have a few quid on him for top run scorer throughout the series.

I'm so glad that channel 9 down under are using sky's coverage for the series. Proper commentators that also remind me of home. 9's World Cup coverage was shite, I don't particularly like sky but fair play, they do employ the best in the business.

Numbers on the back of shirts in Test cricket... 🤮

Agree. They look horrible. Might just about be acceptable if they were 1-11 and not cheaply ironed on...no on second thought just ditch them.

Jimmy having a scan ffs, why did we risk him with only 4 seamers. Idiotic

He thought he was fit and so did the team, that’s why they ‘risked’ him and they would have rested him if they thought he was likely to re injure himself.
