Pissing myself at that- that's classic.

Yet a cautionary note- taking photos at AG might- I stress might- be against some regulation buried away somewhere but that hi vis and her boss- those 2 didn't have a clue! :laughcont:

Wouldn't know about AG as I have never read the ground regs but they're probably on the site whether it's club or EFL.

Took a quick skim-read of ground regs and yes stewards get flak and at times deservedly so, but if they were really anal about it they could be a lot worse.

Some of the rules though are a complete nonsense and frankly unenforceable. That said, some of the regs they could be tossers about but often are not. Maybe different at other grounds or with agency type/bouncer type stewards.

https://www.bcfc.co.uk/fanzone/supporter-guides/club-charter/

Example. Those refusing to open coat at turnstiles could on theory fall foul under:

Quote

All persons seeking entrance to the Ground acknowledge the Club's right to search any person entering the Ground and to refuse entry to or eject from the Ground any person refusing to submit to such a search.

See the bolded bit. @Harry might want to read it?

Quote

The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground. The Club may impose a ban for one or more Matches.

Some might say ending chants in "you c's" is foul and abusive language. :whistle2:

Quote

The chanting of anything of an indecent or racialist nature.

Subjective, but could some consider the Kasey Palmer song to be "indecent"?

Quote

Nobody may stand in any seating area whilst play is in progress. Persistent standing in seated areas whilst play is in progress is strictly forbidden and may result in ejection from the Ground.

Singing section, away end?

Quote

Mobile telephones and other mobile devices are permitted within the Ground PROVIDED THAT (i) they are used for personal and private use only (which, for the avoidance of doubt and by way of example only, shall not include the capturing, logging, recording, transmitting, playing, issuing, showing, or any other communication of any Material for any commercial purposes); and (2) no Material that is captured by a mobile telephone or other mobile device may be published or otherwise made available to any third parties including, without limitation, via social networking sites.

Interesting one- photos or camera phone footage of game, crowd or altercation stuck on Twitter, FB or even a forum- legit under this or not?

Quote

Attempting to enter the Ground or being inside the Ground whilst drunk;

:laughcont: Yeah I'm sure everyone in a ground is sober!!

Quote

Save as set out in paragraph 16 above, no person (other than a person who holds an appropriate licence) may capture, log, record, transmit, play, issue, show or otherwise communicate (by digital or other means) any Material in relation to the Match, any players or other persons present in the Ground and/or the Ground, nor may they bring into the Ground or use within the Ground (or provide to, facilitate or otherwise assist another person to use within the Ground) any equipment or technology which is capable of capturing, logging, recording, transmitting, playing, issuing, showing or otherwise communicating (by digital or other means) any such Material. Copyright, database rights and any other intellectual property rights in any unauthorised recording or transmission is assigned (by way of present assignment of future rights) to the Club and The EFL. You further agree (if and whenever required to do so by the Club and/or The EFL) to promptly execute all instruments and do all things necessary to vest the right, title and interest in such rights to the Club and The EFL absolutely and with full title guarantee.

Extending and expanding on the mobile one.

Quote

Tickets are not transferable and may not be offered for sale without the prior written permission of the Club. Any tickets that are transferred are transferred subject to these Ground Regulations. Any tickets offered for sale may be confiscated by any steward, officer of the Club or any police officer. The Club reserves the right to refuse admission to or eject from the Ground, any person who has transferred his/her ticket in contravention of the relevant ticket terms and conditions (and/or the holder of any ticket that has been transferred in contravention of the relevant ticket terms and conditions.) Tickets remain the property of the Club at all times.

Now this is interesting. What constitutes a transfer- is it cash based (face value), above face value or is it simply loaning a season ticket to a mate for example?

On this above post but forgot to tag at the time, @myol'man and @The Horse With No Name could certainly advise on the amount of discretion we show as a club/that our stewards show in the context of some of these regs.

Stewards are very limited over the amount of discretion/common sense which may be used, would probably need to consult a supervisor before allowing exit/re-entry.

Images from anywhere in the stadium are being viewed at all times.

So if you arrive 10 minutes before half time, go to the club shop or get a pint outside the ground, be able at half time to enter the ground without a ticket?

No

Thanks, I got that impression- kind of proving my point a bit perhaps.

Still in terms of the regulations I listed, I believe that as a club collectively we show some- look at some of those rules- surely by the book loaning a mate a season ticket would be breaching the non transferring rule for example.

I suppose my main point on that is rather for the flak they can get, it could be somewhat worse/the rules more anally applied!

I’m still right Pops.

They always seem to ask me to open my coat in the winter, but they never ask me the same question when it’s warm.

No consistency, if you ask me ?

Definitely sounds like a lack of consistency, which is odd, but at the same time refusal to open can lead to refusal to admit.

I have nothing but praise for the common sense applied by stewards at the ground.

They did not hesitate to allow me to exit the ground in haste a few weeks back after I had sharted at half time.

How embarrassing  for a Olympian Bog Pan Hurdler such as yourself.... I never tire of watching your medal winning performance as depicted in your amazing avatar... What a star!

Most stewards get a buzz from being in their high viz uniform. The one in the singing section which is balding with glasses, it’s plain to see he loves it etc.

Its  amazing what a little “power” does to people. I imagine most would say boo to a goose in real life situations, nor would I trust them if a serious incident happened at a game.

I suspect, actually, that those being most inflexible are less self confident and less experienced rather than power mad. People comfortable with their roles are more likely to use a common sense approach and bend the very tough letter of the rules.

Worth reiterating this point for all and especially @AshtonPark and @Leveller

My ol'man seems to understand about stewarding issues so anyway, this is how it appears to be.

Stewards being highly limited over the amount of discretion and common sense that they can apply means they are not empowered to make such a decision themselves.

Images from anywhere in the stadium being viewed at all times means that if they go against this, it may not be ideal for them.

May as well stick a chip and pin in, buy remote controls- one for each steward- and away you go!

@Oh Louie louie may want to read it to, unless- and I agree somewhat with their sentiment- but unless they know better.

But it’s clear from your long post above that many stewards are (sensibly) not trying very hard to enforce strictly the rules you quoted - eg no foul language, no indecent chants, no persistent standing.

Reckon that's at a macro- club/general football environment level.

At a micro level, ie steward on the door without a radio, I suspect they even if it is the right thing ie the situation the OP described, would be pulled up for not following procedure, going by the book etc were they to let out and in again without authorisation. May depend on the mentality of the Stand Manager/Supervisor too.
