This was a topic about this situation ,we know drink and drugs with  some people on occasion at football matches causes trouble, but here it was not . To me on this occasion the police who sometimes  have a difficult job, got it badly wrong , as one statement i believe was from a officer . So knew  they could lose the case  backed down , which iam glad as it would be more expense to the tax payer. As for one nil i can understand ,as some of these might have been  innocent people from what happened at walsall ,as i knew a few from that time who  go to watch matchs for the football, and said some  of the policeing was a bit over tbe top .

Walsall x 2 in fact.

Unsure which one you're referring to but 1989 and 2004...quite the track record for WMP and that's only the 3 most high profiile!

From that piece:

West Midlands Police said: "A civil action relating to the wrongful detention of Bristol City supporters resulted in the force paying them damages."

Note that it does not say 'alleged wrongful detention', i.e. WMP are confirming here that it WAS wrongful detention.

Why Oh! Why is always you driving the Bandwagon? Every thread you just have to infect with your poison, I suppose I could take the easy way out and just jump aboard, but who would be left for you to post up you nasty little remarks and little giffs?

It's you lifeblood doing that on here, all you got Bob, luckily I have more ?

Fairly straightforward really

And I apologise to the mods in advance and will take a ban happily

But here’s the conclusion

They were in a pub, they missed the A&S escort either way it was a factor.

Cheerio

Just want to put a fact out there, not that you will pay any notice to it.

WMP said there would be an escort, they then said there was no need for an escort and cancelled it.

Dont let facts get in your way.

The Elephant in the room here is booze, booze and football is a potent mix, and that is my point, in fact it goes beyond football and infects every manner of society, I enjoy a drink as much as anyone, in moderation, but history proves that football trouble is down to mainly one thing alcohol. Have we forgotten just how it has infected the English game? Especially in away tournaments , smashed up bars and assaults?

We Bristol City have built a reputation around Cider, it is so woven into our heritage it seems to some that it's a given to boast about being pissed, and the amount of monica on here that have a connection to Cider Pubs etc rather proves that The young lad Messango was photographed recently with a couple of bottles of booze in his hand with the look of bewidement, I suppose the intention was to say his is 'one of us' the kid is just turned 18!!

Seems like some have taken 'Drink Up Thy Cider' a bit too literally, I don't expect  City fans to be abstainers, but I do think we need to calm down a bit and as I say be a bit more aware of how vunerable we are after a few, especially travelling away.

OK I have got dogs abuse, fair enough, but it doesn't seem worthy of the message I am trying to convey that we need to be careful about excesses. WMP did over react, that is a given, but on the back of that feeling of 'winning 1-0' should not hide the fact that we need to be careful, especially our younger fans, I hope you can set aside your bias for one second at least and see my point.

CTID peace and love.

Yes, booze is an issue, but not in this case.

A million other things are issues, but don't relate to this case either.

Your points are at best hypothetical. The events on that day are not hypothetical.

He at least has a back bone and doesn't need the pack mentality, tbh some are just waiting to jump on anything he posts, irrespective of whether they agree or not, but it's what the pack expect of each other.

You see it boils down to one thing, don't be afraid, it's OK to have an opinion that might not please everyone, it's  a Forum, where you can have an opinion where you should be able to comment without abuse, without childish he must be a Troll, Gas WUM  Taffy or whatever, it really makes you look a ....

You are not getting abuse for making comments, you’re getting it for talking out of your ass.

The truth has slapped your face many times and you still choose to ignore it.

I genuinely was beginning to think you were just winding fellow fans up on purpose to provoke a reaction but I sadly am beginning to realise that you are so wrapped up in believing that everything about this case/ city fans travelling away are related to alcohol intake and abuse.

For the last time none of the 10 fans were guilt of any offence

none were risk supporters

alcohol was not a contributing factor to this case

all 10 are innocent fans of bcfc just like you and every other fan on this site ( except miah obviously)

As a police officer on this site I have had tricky conversations with people on here, yet I can still find it in myself to apologise when I get things wrong ( and have done)  my personal view is that what you previously wrote about those fans was out of order and based on no facts just assumptions . You owe them an apology , not me, not the rest of the fans on here but those you are continuing to question .

The guy is entitled to his views no matter how deluded and out of step he is with the majority, just a shame he won't swallow his pride and offer an apology

Yes agreed, it was tongue in cheek

You might have noticed that EVERYONE except you is on this bandwagon, including all the most reasonable balanced posters.

WMP lazily assumed a group of harmless fans were troublemakers and treated them as such. They weren’t. In my experience the policing in Bristol is usually fine, but WMP clearly screwed up here and your pretending they must have had reason is just misguided prejudice.

And this proves my point, resort to the old favourite name calling Gashead Taffy and more.

Why?

Because you can't argue a point without abuse, it's all you got, says everything about the narrow minded stupidness of some on here.

What on Earth does childish name calling achieve when debating a point, it really does happen a lot on here, someone states that the atmosphere at the Gate is like a Library ...so he must be Gas WUM WMP Troll or whatever, but then again you and yours need to surround yourself with like minded souls, safety in numbers, just keep abusing and carry on regardless eh?

He didn't call YOU a Gashead or Taffy, he said that you were worse than any Gashead or Taffy who has ever posted on here.

Face the facts, WMP would have only decided to settle before it went to Court if they were pretty sure that the verdict would not have been in their favour.

Fv*k1ng hell give it a rest. Everything you have posted on this thread has absolutely nothing to do with what actually happened with those 10 supporters.

I wonder if he got treated similarly like a thug by WMP,  if he would think it was his own fault.

It's actually quite disturbing to think he's one of ours.
