winterbournered
A friend was at a meeting on the farm on Tuesday regarding this years festival. Asked about cancellation, was told that they wouldn’t be cancelling unless the government tells them to. I’d imagine that stance could change though. How long do they leave the decision though, the build can’t be too many weeks away from starting.

People have to pay balances first week of April don't they - I imagine they are buying themselves a couple of weeks to see how things are going. If things end up as predicted then it'll be a fairly quick decision to make. It might be the best thing to cancel it after all the rain we've had, the water table must be at one of the highest ever pre festival. One shower will f*** the site sideways if it goes ahead. internetjef
I would have thought it might be a better insurance position if the government shut it down than if they cancel it themselves, could be wrong though. youve got to wonder what the chance of a 75 year old Dianna ross fancying it are even if it does go ahead . mozo
Surely Glastonbury Festival would be the safest place when there's a pandemic what with the healing fields and all. Some people probably are cleaner there than in their everyday lives. It was mentioned a couple of days ago how mostly men fail to wash their hands after using the toilet. As you are mostly males on this forum, care to confirm or deny? Have you noticed a change in work colleagues etc?

Well it’s only the initial 100 or so but it’s the first year in many that I reckon at least 20+ on that list id like to see. Personal music preferences obviously. Never going ahead tho.. internetjef
30-40 acts I would be keen to watch, but perhaps not many I would run the width of the festival site to make. To some of the guys who noted perhaps only 10 acts you are keen on, If you have Spotify and search for Glastonbury 2020 playlist there is a good one there with 5 tracks from each act . You might find some nice surprises in there most years I often find some hidden gems pre festival in this manner Appreciate it looks unlikely to go ahead anyway. mozo
So under the current govt guidelines, Glastonbury could still go ahead but presumably would have to pay a private security firm to replace the police presence? I appreciate the govt has plenty of time to be more authoritative in prohibiting events, but just interesting to consider the current state of play. Do we think people will pay up their tickets given what's going on? Perhaps the best opportunity for people like me who would have to enter the resale? Any point in bothering with the resale?! Any point in bothering with the resale?! It’ll be the easiest year ever to get tickets through the resale. But there’s a very high chance it’ll be cancelled. If they refund tickets on cancellation then it’s worth a go. If they are not clear about refunds then it’s very risky.

RedM
Gutted. But glad the decision has been made and we weren’t being led on with false hope. I don’t crave fancy holidays, not bothered at all. Glasto is my everything and I’m only sad I didn’t discover it in my youth. Truely gutted it won’t happen this year, that was my ‘look forward to’ time marked on my calendar. Yes I know I’m being selfish, people are dying but to get through the daily grind sometimes I need a bit of a treat on the horizon, what now footie and Glasto are gone. Exactly how I feel about Glasto. It’s my favourite 5 days of the year. The stress of everyday life once you get through those gates just disappears in that hazy Glasto bubble, where you don’t give a toss what’s happening outside of that fence. Very well said and after the current goings on, where I get heaps of abuse every day for just doing my job from arsey customers, it was a little rainbow on the horizon. Never mind, it just wasn’t meant to be. I only need The Killers to inevitably cancel and I’m done. I need new goals
