CyderInACan
This has to be one of the most ridiculous "celeb" (barely) stories recently. Out here in the real world no-one gives a tinker's cuss about who leaked what, to whom, when and how. What is truly outrageous is the staggering sums of money they must both be shelling out for what can only be, by any standard, a hugely pyrrhic victory. The detachment of both parties from real life is unbelievable. 2

Think what positive work could have been done. Because, let's face it, absolutely no one gives a flying one if Vardy leaked Colleen's insta posts (or vice versa) or not. How tone deaf is it all.
CyderInACan
For anyone interested . . . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-61349184 This shows the utterly pointlessness of it all : "Now Mrs Rooney and Mrs Vardy are going head-to-head in a civil case where the legal costs could be far greater than any damages that might be awarded at the end. Judges have repeatedly pleaded for them to settle the matter out of court, but neither side has backed down." Was just mentioned on the news that the legal costs are already around the Million mark and yet if either of them “ win”, they will get about 40 K in costs! Only winner once again are the law firms, in the same bulletin an Andy Warhol sold for a record $170 million, yet calls to energy help lines have more than doubled, world’s gone mad.

If what Coleen said at the time about only sharing her stories with one person I find it hard to understand how its got this far. Which means either she's not being entirely truthful... or Rebecca Vardy is just on a hiding to nothing.

NcnsBcfc
17 minutes ago, CyderInACan said: Here we go for Day Two then. A few hundred thousand pounds down the drain . . . The fees these civil law QCs charge are insane. Typically a QC on criminal law case for Homicide or likewise offence will be £2-3k per day at Court. Expert witnesses charge by the hour for their reports (Around £250-£500 per hour compiling the report), as well as up to £5k per day at court (Plus hotels, travel & expenses). Because this is a private civil case. The Qc's will be charging £10-15k per day to be at court!!!! Plus you will be paying extra for their solicitors, paralegals present; and everything else. You can see why so many QC's don't do criminal law anymore. This case now has snowballed to such an extent, it's less about the compensation the winner will get (apparently only 40k max); and more about who picks up the enormous legal bills for both parties. You can see the Judge pleading with both parties to sort it out before this happens, to no avail. I think the loser of this will probably be bankrupted by the costs involved (probably multi millions now). A lot to play for .....

It won't bankrupt either party but will be a tragic waste of money.

From my understanding, RV has basically conceded that her PR person leaks the stories, but that she didn't tell her to do it. The PR person has conveniently lost her mobile phone with loads of incriminating messages in the North sea, only 4 days after a judge ordered her to hand it over ( blast those big waves that knocked it out of her hand); and is now off with some sort of unspecified mental health problem; and withdrawn her statement to the court that allegedly massively incriminates RV. RV's WhatsApp account that normally backs up all of her messages to her cloud has also strangely stopped working around the time the Judge ordered that as well; oh well these things happen . To say this case sounds like a Shaggy song is an understatement. Edited May 11 by NcnsBcfc

I think they've probably signed on to some sort of Netflix series deal that covers the whole episode/trial. As well as publishing deals with magazines, newspapers the whole lot. There is something else driving the need for this to go to trial, other than just their own egos
