Well done Lee, the longest-serving manager in the Championship.  Very impressive that he has also led City to another long unbeaten run in the league.

I'm sure Lee will take us to the Premier League, and then I reckon he'll have enough skill and experience to keep us there.

Years down the line, when he's finished managing City, I'd suggest Lee will be regarded as one of our finest ever managers.

For perspective though, anyone can still improve and develop.  What does Lee have to improve upon to become even better?

After a week of managerial sackings. It makes you wonder if he would still be in a job at 90% of the club's in the Championship.

Fair play to him. He's learnt and evolved.

I was one of many that wanted him gone. I was wrong, and will be the first to admit it.

With hindsight, yes it has worked out but I don't think anyone was wrong at the time to suggest he needed to go.

Still, very pleased with how it worked out and think he is doing a great job.

Not wrong in the sense that it would all be speculation, but I suspect that there are many people who wanted him to go who would now judge that we're in a far better position today, with him, than we'd likely have been with any of the various alternatives being touted around at the time, many of whom have been in and out of other clubs since.

I do think you have to give a lot of credit to SL for sticking to his guns, and a lot also to LJ himself for weathering the storm that, at times, was quite unpleasant.

In answer to the OPs question, I guess he needs a promotion!

Writing his CV in readiness for when that time comes!

Well done for him sticking it out and for SL for backing him. Let's hope there's no losing streak and end of season dip. The only thing I will say is that that football isn't as good as what people make out, especially the media. People I meet who support other clubs always say oh yeah Bristol play good football, mainly remembering the Man U game. What we are is an effective well drilled team and hard to beat which is obviously a good thing . If Afobe hadn't got injured we may have passed it on the ground more but that's not to be now.

One thing I have noticed over the last 12-18 months is that I'm sure we are more street wise. I wouldn't say dirty but we're certainly not a nice team to play against. Does anyone agree?

Fingers crossed he gets that promotion soon (with us); he needs, we need it, the club desperately needs it.  When you think about it, the fact we haven't been in the top flight since the late 70's is truly shocking.

So glad that we've moved past all that LJ bashing, which was depressing and utterly toxic to read.  I don't think I've heard a harsh word against LJ on here for quite some time, and that's pretty refreshing considering how bad it once was.

Great to hear such praise for Lee. I was one of the very few on this forum to stick up for him during the dark times. It is heartening to see the massive turnaround in fans' opinion of how he is doing with our great club. I would like to see him here for many years to come. Bring it on!

I know what you mean....it’s less pretty, and a bit more pragmatic....and for some perverse reason I’m enjoying it more.  Weird!

I take quite a lot of pleasure seeing us being able to soak up pressure / possession.  Not saying I wasn’t nervous on Saturday, but there was some confidence we wouldn’t concede.

Bring some entertainment back to the football at Ashton gate.

I know we did it to make our results less erratic,  but (It pains me to say that) I have defintely found it less enjoyable this season and last.

Maybe I should sell my season ticket and solely go to away games!

I think this had to happen. We played better football a couple of seasons ago but were wide open at times. Most teams that go up ( thinking hull under Bruce and Burnley ) we’re very difficult to break down.

I agree, it’s very good to know we’re difficult to beat and should hopefully keep us hovering around the play off places .

I'm really happy with how the Club is being run and with LJ.

We are improving every season.

I think we've been really unlucky with injuries both this season and last.

And it's a credit we've not caved in.

We are progressing slowly.

If we were to go up...I don't want the play offs...top two please.

With the play offs there is too much fall out if you don't go up. It's too disruptive.

If we can keep plugging away and keep within catching distance of the top 2 by January, then I hope the Club would seriously consider breaking their policy and spend big on a decent striker. Whether on loan or not.

With the players coming back to fitness, we have a decent squad with the addition of a top striker to go top 2 imo.

I think the only criticism from me would be the amount of long balls we play. Too many of them are wasteful, not cultured, and concede possession.

Otherwise, LJ and co have assembled a very talented, hardworking team.

Every week we see 100% effort. Cant ask for more.

I think we'd have seen less if Afobe didn't get injured. We seem to be scoring more from crosses. Dare I say it's a bit Warnock without the nasty tackles?

We’re not playing the free flowing football we were in the period around the Man Utd/Man City Cup games but I’ve enjoyed the last 2 home games. We’re no push over , and some of the midfield play is Premier standard.

Credit to LJ and only young at about 39 has a great managerial career in front of him. If he cant  bring the club Prem football in the next two years I do not know who can. If he does it he will go down as one of the great managers the club has had. The only hurdle for number one manager in the club is he needs to beet Alan Dicks who is now in his late eighties and managed the club for 13 years and took the club too the 1st Division in 1976.

I was also his biggest fan when many were calling for his head (I've called plenty wrong for the record, like thinking Matt Heywood would be a good signing,). It is so hard for fans to see the bigger picture when every defeat can feel like a crushing blow, We are very lucky to have a chairman like Steve Lansdown who understands Rome wasn't built in a day and has allowed Johnson to do great transfer business (including cashing in on some top players) whilst at the same time improving the league position for 4 seasons in a row. Some great cup runs under Johnno as well.

They both deserve praise and respect. SL for eventually (it seems) getting the set up and running of the club in order, and for sticking with Johnson, and LJ for withstanding mindless abuse from so called fans, and learning from his past mistakes and correcting them and progressing every season long may it continue.

It’s a Johnson trait..............:cool2:

The difference is tho that LJ is a thinking man manager, a real student of the game. Sure he’s made some wrong calls at times as all managers do but overall progress season on season can’t be knocked.

He’s signed some quality players and got them all playing to his way and this season is off to a pretty decent start despite injuries to senior players and when they’re all back he’ll have a tough task picking the match day squad.
