BRISTOL86
I couldn’t give two shits if he was in a casino but I find it baffling that if you can’t play for your country at the last minute you aren’t fussed enough to watch the game. That’s the bit that I find odd tbh.

Coxy27
The papers, especially the one that ran this story, are absolutely toxic. Let his football do the talking. A complete non-story.
Galway Red
Back in the day players used to spend their time in the bookies or snooker Hall (remember seeing a few in the Paragon on North Street) now it's a lot of young men with vast amounts of money trying to get a buzz, understandable
LondonBristolian
I'm not a massive fan of casinos or the way gambling culture is so dominant but, like most others on here, I'm a bit lost on what he has actually done wrong. Even accepting he was ill, sitting in a casino is very different to flying to another country and running around for two intense training sessions and 90 minutes on a pitch. I get the "if you're not well enough to go work, you shouldn't out" thing but it's not like he works in a hospital. His work is physical and intensive... FrozenRobin
Don't like him. One of the most overrated players in the prem, given a good rep just for being English.

Sixtyseconds
"I'm feeling out of sorts Gareth and wont be available even if I was picked". "Ok Son go and see the Doctors". "Ahh bit of virus here. This will sort that out. 400mg of amoxycillin three times a day but remember with these they are special so none of that staying in and resting rubbish, these antibioticsl work better if you go to a casino". I meant to put "office" and Christ knows why my fingers did that instead - possibly because the one admin job I ever had was in a hospital and that was the most office based I have ever been! I sincerely apologise to anyone who works in a hospital - I realise most of the work IS physical and intensive. Thanks so much for spotting that - I honestly had no idea I had written it and truly am sorry.
