Tipps69
Step forward the self appointed Mark Bowen After being appointed the club’s technical director in March, it seems that he played a major role in the sacking of Gomes & then took on the job of finding his replacement & the best man he could find for the job was someone with no experience as a #1, HIMSELF!! To say Reading fans aren’t very happy would be an understatement with many giving Bowen the monicker that the blue few gave Matty Taylor after his move to us! https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2019/october/reading-football-club-appoint-mark-bowen-as-manager
Major Isewater
It’s very risky for him he could be out of a job in six months whereas before he would just be the person changing the coach now his head is on the block .

Mr Popodopolous
Joe Kinnear would say hold my beer. In 2001, he was appointed Luton Town Director of Football- his first act was to demote the manager to assistant and appoint himself as manager! Would be surprised if Bowen was an upgrade on Gomes though but who knows... Also am assuming FFP considerations- a cheapish appointment play a role here. I’m somehow doubting that that would of been Bowen’s remit, it’s his chance to be a #1 & I just think he’s weaselled his way in & now he’s aiming to be in charge of the world (well Reading anyway). The story of Joe Kinnear being replaced at Luton is far more interesting than that and may be one of the most bizarre managerial appointment methods ever. As a bonus, the story includes Cotts. https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2018/oct/12/the-forgotten-story-of-luton-town-manager-idol

Its called Trouble at the top and if you’ve got 40 minutes spare I highly recommend anyone to watch it. Jaw dropping stuff in places, makes the Gas look professional. POHH, I find myself agreeing with all of your posts especially the dustbin thread but really, the gas look professional?!? Steady on, "professional" is not a word one would use in the same sentence as the gas and I am surprised at someone of your obvious intellect and moral calibre and one who is highly regarded by many in your specialist chosen subject matter could ever bring yourself to put two polar opposite words in the same sentence. Have a word with yourself Sir, have a word. [& carry on the good work!]
