1986-87 City v Wigan & this weekend

Looking back who can remember the Division 3 days of 86/87 Ashton Gate still had the old East End. Open End, Grand stand and of course the Dolman Stand. We finished 6th that season and the highest scorer was Andy Walsh with 16 goals. 16 Goals now would be a remarkable achievement for any player.  Behind Walsh was Morgan on 7 and Neville on 8. We beat Wigan at home 2-1 and away we went down 3-0. I’m going for the same this weekend and another 2-1 win at home.

The biggest attendance at the gate that season was over 19K and it was the last one of the season against Swindon. The other highest attendance was just over 17K and who can guess who we went down too????? I remember sitting in the 3rd row back in the Dolman Stand and it was pi^%$ng down with rain and those of you that can remember  you don’t sit in the first ten rows of any block in the Dolman when it pours with rain, the result was a 1-0 loss.

COYR.

Attendance looks really good for Sunday . Dolman almost sold out. Upper and lower lansdown also looking good in terms of remaining seats .
I suspect Wigan won’t bring many down but clearly this £10 mates rates offer has had a really positive effect

Your correct 6729 plus in those days if you gave a fiver to the coppers on the gates you could get in to the ground any where. Thank god for the fantastic Bristol City bible “ a complete record 1984 -1987  they are still limited addition and if you have one it will have its unique number in the front cover. It originally cost about 15 pounds which was a lot of money in those days.i will take it with me in my grave.

One more point and due to our better goal difference, we'd have been in those play offs.
