Some weight off Bristol's shoulders with no threat of relegation. Now, any good players we can pinch?? I can't believe that the Farrell and Vunipolas of this world will stick around in the Championship, even if it's only for one season? Inevitably they'll manage to retain a fair chunk of their squad though and will piss promotion. Will still set them back years from their current position though. Those players must surely be feeling very let down by the Saracens management... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/51164177
Gifford
I’m sure Derby will just get a slap on the wrist and a couple points knocked off.

downendcity
Was going to post on the ffp thread, but the EFL should look at recruiting the team at RFU that deal with financial controls and dishing out penalties.
JBFC II
Great news, shows that there is no time for cheating in the game. What should happen now is they get stripped of all their titles and forced to release anybody on over 200k a year for next season imo

Prinny
I'm not a club rugby fan particularly but I think this is great news. I think this is very healthy for club rugby. I wonder if they'll be allowed to come back up.

When they come back up to the Prem there is going to be some serious scrutiny over their book-keeping again. Apparently the Prem are already insisting on accounts having to be published on a half-season basis.
MichaelRobartes
@Kid in the Riot they've set the parameters now so I'd say they'll have to keep an eye on everyone as far as the cap is concerned. I'm tweet-spamming the thread but this is an interesting question too:
Mr Popodopolous
EFL take note!! Well done RFU. If 18/24 clubs wanted swingeing punishments not far off automatic relegation for these clubs, largely Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and when they return, Aston Villa, surely this would be possible. The EFL ultimately IS comprised of the clubs.
MichaelRobartes
It's a negotiated settlement between the other clubs and Sarries, not a punishment handed down by the RFU. Sarries have taken relegation to avoid having to open their books. I doubt it's the end of the story.

That’s the bit of the story I’m interested in, at the start of all this they were saying the league were wrong, now with the threat of a forensic investigation into their books they’ve accepted relegation - what are they hiding? BetterRedthanBlue
Saracens have taken the easy way out by taking the relegation, the fact they don't want to publish their books just shows how much they are cheating. One season in the championship is nothing, they should be made to have a severely reduced cap and a minimum of 2 seasons in the championship even if they win it next year. Harry
D’ya think they might want to carry on with that ‘ring-fencing’ idea now? No promotion, no relegation. Saracens out of the Prem forever? You’d love to see it.
