By coincidence, the best version (IMHO) of the NetCentre - just before Rivals - launched 20 years ago yesterday.

And here are the threads 20 years ago today - admittedly before many more famous posters discovered the site.

Sadly you can't read any of the posts.

Spotted myself on there under my old username. Would be good to have been able to read the actual posts to see what drivel I was spouting back then!!

Kustard still goes to a few games a season, was at Derby away back in August and I met up with her before the Wigan game. Gave up on the forum a long time ago but still active on social media.

Mark in S Cal, I've a vague recollection he had some kind of falling out with someone on here following the Brighton playoff final, and hasn't been heard from since?

I believe he never paid Percy for something, can’t entirely remember what - part of a flag or something?

Yahoo Groups actually going to be deleted on 14th Dec - I think there were a few posts couple of weeks ago on group from few users and now that’s it it’s in archive mode till 14/12. Shame as at its peak it hit something like 3’500 posts in a month. Possibly the Pulis era!

Wow, that’s a blast from the past!

Makes me simile when I think back started the mailing list in 1993, along with the first event Bristol City website which simply had a picture of the Robin Crest.

From that small seed grew the much better efforts of others including the NetCentre and Cider Drinking Squids on Yahoo Groups. Those were the days when I could spend half my day at work talking about city on the internet.

I can’t remember when Rob F joined the fray but weird that I cam actually listening to him now on OSIB. Good thing was you could not interrupt an email, eh @Olé?  ;0)

As TomF alluded to, Percy Parrott had organised some kind of flag sale in aid of a good cause (the details of which I just cannot recall) with fans and forum members and Mark S Cal was called out by Percy for not paying the agreed donation price, and Mark disappeared seemingly without trace, not just from OTIB, but from regular contributions to Twentyman's phone-in shows.  Why he didn't pay up was a bit of a mystery, IIRC it was just only a fiver or a tenner, not a particularly big amount of dosh even back then!

oes anyone remember a poster/posters called something like The Old Codgers?  I remember quite a few witty comments from him/them, but more than that remember the photo of 2 blokes, 1 of them was particularly "portly" and sported a T-Shirt with the slogan "I beat Anorexia" plastered across it!

Then there was the saga of Steve Brooker's stalker!

Are you thinking of the Clevedon Kodjia who I believe has sadly passed away?

Why do users change their name, don’t get it? There used to be a prolific poster called something Kingswood who I no longer see, unless with a different name!

I changed my name from ‘ Always the Bridesmaid ‘ , after we did the double it seemed a bit anachronistic.

I remember on previous versions of this forum, at the foot of the page it stated whose birthday it was that day. Data protection laws rules that out.

You could also pick up gold stars for so many "likes" which would show against your name. As a result groups of friends would like each others posts and all have 5 gold stars under their name.

If its registered offshore, in some jurisdictions it is perfectly fine and of course rightly so. What a stupid law that is.

Amused to see that I was involved in some sort of pie debate. Used to post a hell of a lot more back then - not only the net centre forum, but the www in general seemed to be a lot less toxic back then. Or am I looking back with rose tinted specs?

Nope - back in the day you had dial up and kids weren’t allowed to block the phone line. I reckon the peak days of here would have been when the club had the other forum forced on them for 12 months. This place was a great read back then as it was almost an unknown

I used to have phone contact with him , and yes he just went missing. Not because of the flag that's for sure. Was a weird one...

Yeah I'm sure some people reimbursed Pete but was very odd. I seem to recall he popped up once a few years later and made no reference to it. All very weird as seem to recall him buying kits for his kids entire footy team etc.
