Jose's firebrand personality for one, for another he will stand up for the need to spend money - last year he spent as much in one week as Poch had spent over 5-and-a-half years to this date....

Did he? When was that week last year and who did he buy? As far as I can recall, last season Man Utd only brought in Diogo Dalot, Fred, Lee Grant and Paul Woolston .... and Jose was sacked in December 2018. The Fred transfer was rumoured to have cost Man Utd just over £50m - yet Levy authorised Spurs player purchases totalling £30m in the summer of 2014, £50m in the summer of 2015, nearly £70m in the summer of 2016 ... and Levy allowed Poch to spend over £100m on players to join Spurs in the summer of 2017 .... I think you’ve got Diane Abbott doing your sums ...

One of the most strangest appointments they could have made.

Car crash at Chelsea second time around.

Just as bad at Old Trafford, and ended up sucking the life out of that place.

Levy and Jose, how the hell is that going to work. I give it a year. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kane go in January...

Really?  Jose won trophies at Utd inc one of the Euro cups, even though taking over a car crash, he won the league with Chelsea in second spell, and he’s won trophies at every club he’s been at, hardly a strange appointment, Poch has won best part of nothing so far as a manager

Bizarre comment considering Jose’s record of winning trophies at every single club he manages, compared to Poch who has not one anything at all, if they brought in David Moyes I would agree, but not Jose

So you just ignore the mess he always leaves a club?

What mess? Man Utd? Chelsea? Real Madrid? Hardly in a mess, yeh they have a season or two of under performance afterwards, especially for those size of clubs, but they’ve lost a top manager so expected surely.  But these huge clubs are hardly struggling.

Yeh Jose likes to splash the cash, but that’s modern football.  Nobody can argue that he is nothing other than a very successful manager, a proven winner at every club, and most managers have never got anywhere near his success, especially Poch who’s won nothing as a manager in this country.  He’s been at Spurs for years and although improved they still haven’t won anything, I’m not surprised he’s gone.

Jose will be successful I’m sure, yeh he might not win the league, but he’ll get a few trophies more than Poch ever did.

Mourinho's legacy is an interesting one.

  • Porto- they peaked with him, players sold after he left and this was inevitable due to both his spell and the fact that Portugal were back on the rise- only way was down for his successor but inevitable, no blame.
  • Chelsea first spell- I'd say he left a pretty strong one but the downside was that his ways were ingrained with that squad, after that stint which left a problem for his successors with a more dynamic style of play- see Terry in a high line for a good example.
  • Inter- Can't really see anything wrong!
  • Real Madrid- Yes he improved them quite a bit, but he also left the squad half in revolt by the end- their significant under performance in the first half of his last season was surely in part due to some of his man management.
  • Chelsea second time- Left good players, but set the tone with the row with the Physio IIRC.
  • Man Utd- Did alright, but at the expense of many young players- both in the academy and brought in, really don't think he helped their development.

Yes but if you ignore all of that, it's a terrible appointment apparently  ?

Every single club since and including the first Chelsea spell, he has left amongst a falling out with the players and/or owners.

No denying that Mourinho is a proven winner. Not only that, he's achieved success at different clubs and in the 3 biggest leagues in Europe.

What he does not seem to be is a manager capable of seeing through any sort of long(it) term plan and once the stage is reached where success is becoming harder to achieve it appears that he becomes frustrated and his frustration makes him abrasive with players and owners, and the combination is a recipe for his departure and a further hefty boost to his pension plan!

When he first came to Chelsea he was a breath of fresh air and his personality captivated the media and many fans. More recently his ideas and tactics appear outdated and boring, and other coaches like Klopp and Pep look to have overtaken him. He has lost the charismatic aura of success.

Poch appeared to be well liked and respected at Spurs, and it will be more than interesting to see how Spurs players take to "the special one". If rumours are to be believed, and there is dressing room tension because of players extra circular activities, how will Mourinho go about sorting that type of problem out?
