Johnson says the reason Eliasson doesn’t start regularly is because he doesn’t fit the system. I’m sorry but it’s time to **** your system and find a new one where he fits it. The lack of creativity without him is painful.

He'd probably get in every team in this league other than ours. I agree. Or even find a way of fitting him in our current system. He is just too good.

What a bizarre thing to say (Johnson not you). We haven't had a recognisable system for about 3 years

If not Eliasson fit in the system, how come COD fit in the system. He he, its pathetic. The aim is to get the ball in the box and score. We have one player who is specialist at that, NE. Maybe Im to old to understand the benefit to play the ball between defence and midfield all the time.  Ok clean sheet was and we are hard to beat but If we will be top six we have to show who is in charge on the field.

Palmer didn't look that interested today though.

Don't think that's fair. He tracked back a fair few times to win it back. He was trying to be composed on the ball and look for quality while the rest of the team were in frantic desperation mode or relying on Eliasson.

It's no wonder Palmer couldn't find a killer pass through with Forest sat so deep and settling for a draw.  It's why Palmer needs to play for much longer than just 25 mins.  We know he has that quality and he's shown it at various points of games. It's just he's rarely given a full opportunity to do so.

September to December 2017.

Best City team since I started watching in the 80s.

Then it all went to rat shit behind the scenes and we havent found anything like that since.

Harsh he hardly had the opportunity - let’s not forget Brownhill was also well off his game perhaps they need time to gel with Nagy?

Brownhill was ok.  Put in a beautiful cross straight to Rowe that could've easily been scored.

Bizarre isn’t it. My inkling at the time was to give massive credit to LJ, but he’s now proving that it can only have been luck. We’ve got absolutely nowhere near that football and I think that’s the identity that is often referred to... only it’s been missing for two years!

It really isn’t. When played how it was originally developed. COYR

It doesn’t have to be. I think without Moore it is though. He is the closest we have to Webster in bringing the ball out of defence

Completely agree but the way we play is so cautious and negative. Rather we just went to a back four and at least tried to get someone creative on the pitch from the off.

Had enough of this 3-5-2 bullshit with two full backs as wing backs.

That lucky 0-1 at Cardiff has really papered over the cracks of some really dire results lately

I did wonder how long it would be before someone spouted this bollox again. Imo for all the lengthy injuries we’ve had to deal with from the very 1st game of the season we’ve done considerably well. LJ’s only downfall to me is that during games at AG he’s more worried about what the opposition are trying to do rather than just going abit more gung-ho and going for it, it works better away from home.

But apart from that?

But that's a massive moment.  If Rowe scores the header then we win the game and everyone says wow Brownhill played a major part in another goal.

As a whole he was a bit quieter because Nagy was back doing most of his other work and so he had a bit less of the ball than he's had this season.

All of a sudden when elliasson came on there was danger. Ive said before that with our injuries to be beaten twice by the end of november is a hell of an effort, but you do wonder whether elliasson could play in the 352 formation with his wing play like it is. If not, then cash in on him and bring in someone to play the formation you want.

rowe has been very good, but you do wonder where we would be if dasilva had been fit,,, could ne play the the right wing back role?

Too good for us I fear & I think we may lose him, he's not getting the gametime he deserves.

Cmon LJ please wake up before it's too late.

What’s Nic gotta do? Top the assists table despite having played half the minutes of the people below hi- wait a minute

6 assists this season.

  1. Weimann goal v Leeds.  An assist in name only, really a solo run by Weimann (but it’s in the stats book)
  2. Palmer header v Boro - from left wing open play (following a set play)
  3. Diedhiou header v Reading - the only open play right wing assist this season
  4. Pereira header v Wigan - right side corner
  5. Williams header v Barnsley - left wing set piece
  6. Weimann header v Barnsley - right side corner

I am in the minority re Eliasson.  Not that I don’t rate him, I’m just not as convinced by the numbers.

Today:

Those red crosses (unsuccessful) got further away from the bye-line (never know if that’s the right spelling) as the game wore on, and became increasingly ineffective with each cross.  There are 3 almost identically angled crosses from that orange upside down v icon!

He is exciting to watch, and the crosses look really threatening, all whip and pace, but very few actually hit the mark.  I think his crosses would be more effective on the other side, swinging away from the opposition CBs.
