Davefevs
http://fullcontactlaw.co.uk/2016/11/compensation-players-24-mystery/ thought this might be worth sharing as there has been discussion about Liam Walsh, currently out of contract in the summer, but under 24. Assume we offer him a new deal / extension at terms equal or better to his current deal, then we would be entitled to compensation.
TBW
What did we pay for him? Surely it'd be based on if there's a feeling he's progressed or regressed since?

Surely it'd be based on if there's a feeling he's progressed or regressed since? £1m allegedly. Also based on what level his appearances have been at....the fact he’s played at Champ level helps the value.
Gazred
I hate reading white text on a black background (i can still see the text now!) but still interesting. Seems there is a decent amount that can be made in these circumstances if the player has the right pedigree. Walsh as the example has represented England at youth level, has had successful loans(?) and played several times in the champ. Add to that a sell on % and you would be hoping to get a good 6 figure sum back straight away or possibly break even/make a profit in the longer term on what we paid out for him.
