If England win their group they play the runner up of the France/Germany/Portugal group but finish second and the opponents are all very beatable, meanwhile if Portugal finish third they get winner of Ukraine or Belgium groups instead. Although as ever with England, it’s best not to get too far ahead of ourselves (especially bearing in mind our largely unhappy history in the European Championships). Only 8 teams in 92 we were home in just over a week after drawing the first 2 and losing the 3rd bloody good job with the price of drink over there ...
