Championship Attendances

Much is made of attendances. It's an easily identifiable figure by which fans can quickly compare their team with another. It's been twisted in modern times as clubs report "tickets sold" rather than bums on seats, but the fact that all clubs do this means you can at least directly compare them. Just thought this thread on twitter was interesting, it analyses home and away followings for the season so far. Shows that we have an above average home following, but then take fewer fans away than other clubs with a home following similar to ours. There's a range of factors at play there I am sure; geography, apathy, history etc. But it is interesting that Cardiff in particular have only  a slightly higher home following but average a few hundred more than us away.

Also, as it analyses only half a season there will be some variance in how many away fans it has been possible for a club to take. Having all of the smaller away ends in the first half of the season will impact the average. But likely this "works itself out".

Ignore Luton btw, they've definitely got "New league, new clubs, new grounds" enthusiasm at play.

The best stat? Probably from the last graph - we're 7th in the league in terms of filling the ground. On average the Gate is just over 80% full.

Must say, considering we haven't had the chance of building support up from a forray into the top flight, that's a damn good effort from us. Bì7

eating a few who have come down and going toe to toe with those with much more recent success.

Away followings will always suffer due to our location but I'd imagine we're in the top 5, if not the top 3, of the most travelled sides.
