Away pub details for Charlton

Drunk in there on the way back to New Cross after our last game at the Valley, is back under the huge junction on the way into the Blackwall Tunnel, bit of way from ground but obvious away pub, very big, rows of luminous shots, everything is wipe clean, Sky Sports and pool tables. Bus stop right outside for travelling over from Greenwich and South London or on to the ground for the very lazy.

Charlton used to be a good away day. Went there on a night game with City when we took a really good following.

It was the famous flare incident. The OB expected 500 to go, it was more like 2500. It was a really good day out in London also. Can’t remember the year?

They were great times.... There is a video somewhere on YouTube of the flare incident.

Was that not the away pub in 2016 trip there?

Seem to recall it was a hotel or similar. Played the Wurzels pre game and one or two other things, the day LJ was announced.

Tomlin penalty, 1-0. There was a smoke device of some sort when we scored, I'm sure!

You are correct but the game mentioned above was a night game where Charlton completely underestimated how many City fans would turn up

That was the 0-2 in the championship game! Trundle scored if my memory serves me right! Great night!

As a previous Charlton resident, the old away pub was the antigallican, which was literally a 10 second walk from the station and 2 mins from the ground... the new pub suggested is tge angerstein, get off the train stop before at westcombe park. Its a 20/25 min walk go charlton id say, or back on the train. Just head under the bridge, and walk along the main road until charlton church lane. Easy x

As a local I can assure you there's good reason they point away fans here. Went in once, never again. Famous only for once being Andy Fordham's local.

Note there are no suburban train services tomorrow, only the tube (Jubilee) to N Greenwich. If going here it's the 422 or 108 to East Greenwich Library/Westcombe Hill.
