Bristol City v Brentford Match Day 26

Ugh.

I am desperately hungover. I only woke up 15 minutes ago and my mouth is rougher than the sandpaper section in B&Q.

I always enjoy NYE, more so than Christmas, just because there's no pressure, little commercialisation and everyone wants two things - have a laugh and get pissed. I committed the sin of mixing (Rough Cider, Blackthorn, Sourz shots, Prosecco, Wine, Lager) so it's really no surprise that I'm currently in the foetal position and thinking about coffee.

I'm sure there will be many a sore head at AG too. After beating Luton, a noticable lull in the LJ Out Brigade occurred. As a low placed team, I fully expected Luton to come with nothing to lose, especially with our previous form being so bad. And then us, falling over like the drunk guy at Joe Kebab on a Saturday night. But surprisingly, we won comfortably.

Today will be a much better test. With the return of JD and Patto (why this beautiful man ever sent on loan I'll never know), the rumour mill can begin. Baker being sold? Palmer on loan? COD for sale?

Personally, other than Matthew Taylor (remember him?) being flogged to Oxford, I can't see any other City player leaving this window. And then there is the Nketiah enigma. So newsworthy was this story of Leeds pinching him from under our nose, Ian Wright came to town as a precursor to spending 3 weeks with James Haskell and Caitlyn Jenner. Bielsa still remains determined to play Bamford up top and it's no surprise that Arsenal are fuming. He will be recalled I don't doubt and if he does come here, I will cry with laughter when he scores goals for fun as Leeds do their choke thing they do every year.

So on to today.

They have a couple of injuries (Canos being one, he's our Massengo though not as good as HNM) and Millwall beat them on Boxing Day so they will want to claim back some form.

I smell a draw. If Brentford push, they might win 2-1. Fammmmmmmy with a tap in.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & COYRS!

Monster thread for a monster hangover.

The old rule of never mixing grape and grain is there for a reason .

Luckiky I had rum punch before settling on the old bubbly , neither grape nor grain .

I have a feeling in my bones that the B’s are going to go on a losing streak starting with today.

The magnificent Swede will make turnips out of their defence.

Bentley will show those uneducated Cockney supporters just what they’re missing and City will enter the new year on a fluffy pink cloud of optimism.

I drink a lot but I’ve only ever experienced one ‘real’ hangover - the morning after a wedding in Munich. They kept topping up my glass with white wine. I’m normally a beer (lager) drinker, used to drinking large volumes, so I probably put away several bottles worth.

God I felt terrible the next morning. The snow on the ground didn’t help - blinding white!!!!!

City to win 2-0.

And just to cheer you up @Septic Peg with each passing year, hangovers seem to last longer, be worse and affect every part of the body as well..... those oft uttered words “never drinking again” that were usually followed by a stroll to the pub for a hair of the dog, now seem more appealing after every session that starts out with me thinking I can still drink and recover like I did 30 years ago.

Fingers crossed something confidence was instilled into the team after the Luton win, no idea which way it will go, I’d like to see us keep a clean sheet.
