BTRFTG
Because having an inability to trap and control the ball will always improve by resting up rather than through repetitive practice, practice, practice. Funny how those at the top of their game put in the extra hours when others rest up. Golfers who stay out long after sundown until they sink 20 putts on the trot. The Beckhams and Ronaldos who when asked why with all their talent they stay out when training is over, why they come in on days off, respond that when they do so they visualise their next opponent sitting on their a**e and it's that extra effort and dedication that will see them win out when next in battle? But our players are tired, so time to give it a rest. Well WeeLee, us fans are tired of your bulls**t so do us a favour and take time off yourself, preferably the next few decades. Palmer had a good game, was arguably our best player on the day and so the manager rightly picks that out. If he’d said nothing I’m sure many people would be saying “why didn’t he say Palmer had a good game”!
Dolman_Stand
Whatever the man says it feels like this forum will look to pick it apart and use it against him. It does feel like a continuation of the abuse he got as a player and the stick he gets is much more intense and comes for lesser reasons than any manager I can remember in the 25 years I've followed City. We are on a bad run, it happens, if we sack a manager everytime it happens we will go through managers like nobodies business. I don't think his position is or should be under threat at present, the earliest we should be having any discussions of this nature is the end of this season. I do understand why people are frustrated at the moment, ultimately we aren't playing well at the moment and that will breed frustration, I just feel that we are a long way from being at the point where the manager's position should be under threat. It was only a month ago that we won at Fulham and everything was rosy in the Ashton Gate garden so things can change quickly, would anyone really be that suprised if in a months time we are back on an upward trajectory? I can't recall many disenting voices in the summer when he signed his new contract in fact it was quite the opposite and seen as a positive. The play-offs are still within striking distance and all is not yet lost, if the season fizzles out and we end up nowhere near them or lower half then I agree the conversations should be being had but only at that point. I also think everyone should bear in mind that whoever replaces LJ if we do pull the trigger will be of a similar ilk i.e. more coaching based than managerial as it fits the business model that the club has decided to utilise. Whatever the man says...no matter how incoherent, no matter how poorly we perform, no matter how long the latest losing streak continues...some folk on this forum will always argue that LJ is doing a great job and that despite never having won anything as a manager he'll lead us to glory. And that anyone saying otherwise hated him as a player, hates him now, or is knee-jerk. It's beyond belief. Lee Johnson appears out of his depth, yet again he is floundering, despite having a squad with talents his predecessors couldn't have dreamt of. A manager with experience of achieving what the club says it wants to achieve would have this team flying. End of the season and the moment has passed. Get him out now. EDIT: Just saw your reply above. Much as I respect your views I couldn't disagree more I'm afraid.
harvey54
Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol: "They [Shrewsbury] deserved a replay. They were strong. "They hit us on the counter well, through a little bit of our sloppiness at times. "At 1-0 up, I thought that might have been over the line, our 'goal' that was sort of bundled off the line. "But I'm pleased we're in the hat, I'll be honest with you. It was always going to be a tough match, given the run of games we've had and the fact they had a 10-day rest. It adds up." Meh... BTRFTG
WeeLee's clearly as adept at taking PR advice as Prince Andrew. "I wanted to win the game..." No s**t Sherlock. That presupposes there are games you might not wish to win , which I think you may have admirably demonstrated of late. As any crisis management specialist would advise steer well clear of 'hot topics'. So if opening with a brown-nosing of Show Pony have something concrete to back it up. "Positives..I was delighted with Kasey Palmer and the way he played.." Which in PR terms is reinforced by; ' the way he found space, picked his passes, beat his opponent, got forward with abandon, created chances...' To stumble, lost for words and come up with nebulous bulls**t: "He showed guts and character..." What the **** does that mean? WHAT DID HE DO that so pleased you? To then imply the 'guts & character' related to him 'hanging in there' when he was not match fit says one thing and one thing only; you selected a professional footballer who hadn't played much of late and you haven't managed to keep him physically and mentally ready. WHY NOT? Every other 'positive' thereafter quoted is actually a qualified negative. Rather than have the stability of a leader at the club we'll give responsibility to whomsoever knocks on his door: Can I be milk monitor Lee? Can I put the cones out? Can I have your job? Massengo being thrust into the cauldron of a 3rd round FA cup tie home to Shrewsbury, like the kid's never played in the Champions League. "...pleased with 5 or 6..." Who for ****'s sake - name them. Name what they did that was so pleasing so that we may form an opinion as to your suitability to continue as manager of this club? It's all meaningless, non-falsifiable bulls**t. It means nothing, it adds nothing other than to get people's backs up.

It happens to almost every side in the Championship, look at PNE, Fulham, SHeff.Wed who have all had poor spells recently, on the flip side Hull, Boro and Reading have recently put good runs together. We don't have a divine right to be top-6 at this level it is an incredibly tough league and a bit of perspective is needed at times.
