And nothing seems to be materialising.  Apparently we have made an offer for a Slovenian no. 9 and either Arsenal or Eddie Nketiah can't make up their mind.

Are we going to have to play the whole of January before any deal is done and will it be a L2 striker or another French striker with lead boots.  Was hoping for some news a week ago.

The good news is that Benik Afobe is on the mend and may be back a bit earlier than we were expecting.

We need a striker and some points desperately.

Good job we are interested in about 200 strikers then, wouldn’t take much notice of what you read online and especially in our transfer forum where people edge there bets and say he’s coming then say at the last minute there was a glitch, any Tom Dick or Kid could say that

I know, but I thought the groundwork was going on behind the scenes at the back end of last year and that something would be ready once the window opened.

With our current form, I'm feeling that it will be too late to matter by February.

Not at all, these things take time,

it just doesn’t happen over night, even if we had a bid accepted in the next 10 minutes contract talks could take 2 weeks

That is true regarding a permanent transfer but a loan not so much

Maybe a few seasons ago with a loan when it was just that and fees weren’t involved but these days,

you’ve got percentages of wages and contract bonuses to negotiate, non-playing fees and god knows what else that goes into it these days

That is easy to sort out on a loan deal when essentially he’s not going to be your player at the end of the day,you either give it a yes or no if it doesn’t suit you, permanent deals are a different matter

Not really bothered tbh.  No ‘Wonder signing’ is going to propel us to the playoffs and we’re not going down with this squad.  Save the money until the summer.

Dunno if we should throw in the towel yet.

What are we, 3-4 points off the playoffs? A good striker on loan, in the middle of a reasonable run of games, would help us on the pitch, give us a lift off it- that combined with a possible tie vs Liverpool in front of the cameras, it's possible to get a run going again- it's a very congested race for the playoffs.

Do we or anyone else need to wait until 1st Jan to actually speak to clubs, players or agents?
