Guest
Anyone know if I can watch this game? I'm currently in Mexico. Will there be a link, will it be on website, or if it's the championship game shown on foreign tv, it should be available on TV shouldn't it? Very interesting article appeared last night on the old Twitter feed... Yep. Shocking isn't it? Now I know Tomlin has had his demons so I can say he's doing well to overcome them. But these talks have been going on for ages. Harris is getting all the credit but could it be that Warnock did what others had failed at and give Tomlin the right support he needed? It seems so. It was Warnock's idea to send him back to Peterborough on loan as that was where he would rediscover his love of the sport. So the question is will Tomlin do what he always does in the comfortable knowledge of a contract and drop off? It even happened at Cardiff when he first signed. Warnock sent him out on loan to Forest and then he enjoyed a huge bonus when Cardiff won promotion to the Premier League, despite being rarely involved. So with one City reject shoring up their Cardiff pay day, let's take a brief look at the others. Bobby Reid - on loan at Fulham, almost halfway through a 4 year deal. Marlon Pack - 3 year deal, still hurts my heart. Aden Flint - same as BFF Marlon, he's on a 3 year. Imagine Bobby will be sold probably next summer or the summer after. Pack and Flint may get 1 year extensions but fully expect them to released at the end of their contracts. Talking of Flint, anyone see this? Classic. On to today. Wigan have recently beaten Birmingham in the league and held Derby in a draw. Personally, I hate playing relegation threatened teams because those are the teams with everything to play for and nothing to lose. And we cave. But with our reasonable away form and Williams back, I'll say 1-1 draw. COYRs! Williams..don't want that one.

Davefevs
It’s a simple one for me. Today is the start. Pick the players in a system that you see yourself using for 90% of the rest of the season. Tell the players why you’ve picked them. Tell the players you’ve not picked, why they haven’t been picked. Tell all the players what it takes to retain their place or get into the team. There will need to be a bit of rotation, but in essence it’s time to go back to basics and give clarity (and leadership). ....and then effin stick to it. Can see it being a draw today. Mood afterwards will depend on how the point is achieved. Suspect Fam will play because LJ will be worried about their threat from set pieces....that may dictate however what we do when we have the ball. Cidre Monita
Easy win today. Players want to play in cup game and try and get a go at the the best team in the world. We will thank Liverpool for an improvement in application. Sad but true. But today really should be a notable improvement. 3-0 City

They are not. They have not won a game in championship since October. They are a struggling championship side. Fact. I expect and look to a positive LJ taking the game to this lot instead of ‘cancelling’ out any attributes he perceives they possess. Didn't realise that. That alone is pretty much the kiss of death for us today, we seem to specialise in helping out teams who are desperate for a win!

The thread is about todays game, not LJ in or out. But sadly, like other posters , you get sucked in to that never ending topic re the head coach. I hate the game sometimes, and for the first time I have made other plans rather than listen to Gary Owers at the away game, or who ever the summariser is today , getting me depressed. Today I will check my phone at 4 50 and see if I am pleasantly surprised. Better be. Next two games pivotal to the season.
Davefevs
1 hour ago, bcfc01 said: I would think that one of the first names on the teamsheet as far as LJ is concerned would be Watkins. He'll be thinking we need him for defending set pieces and attacking set pieces. I reckon he'll also turn to Smith in midfield as one of his "trusted" players. Wigan don't create or score that much so he may opt for 4-4-2. Bentley Pereira Williams Baker Dasilva Watkins Brownhill Smith Eliasson Weimann Diedhiou Thats a pretty pragmatic line up with no creative players other than Eliasson and I'd expect a fairly turgid game trying to grind out the result if thats the line up. Agree with thought process here. I reckon Kalas won’t be fit, and I thought that he’d want Baker and Williams to handle K.Moore and Dunkley from set pieces. However, neither has played of late as Wigan have lost 1 in 6, and stopped shipping as many goals. So half-expecting a smaller Wigan side, I would pick my “2020 team”, which will be gnoring the opposition (in the main)....here goes: Bentley ————- Hunt Moore (c) Baker Dasilva ————- Brownhill Nagy ————- Watkins (right) Palmer Eliasson (left) ————- Weimann Subs: Wollacott (cd), Pereira, Williams, Massengo, Szmodics (I wouldn’t loan him), Paterson, Diedhiou No Mäenpää (can play cup), Smith, Rowe (injured), O’Dowda, Semenyo (going on loan), Wright (going on loan), Kalas (injured), Janneh (injured) If Kalas is fit then Baker down to sub and Williams misses out on bench. Caveat: this is not what LJ would / will do

Spud55
I would go with a 4-2-3-1 with the team as follows. Gk. Bentley Rb. Hunt Cb. Baker Cb. Moore Lb. Dasilva Dm. Smith Dm. Nagy Rw. Wieman Lw. Eliasson Acm. Brownhill Cf. Fam Think that system fits our players as well as going a long way to nullifying most of our defensive weakness. Nagy out isn't he.? Not necessarily. LJ said he might need an op, but might be able to play on. If he is injured, then Massengo comes in, and Smith onto the bench. My rules are easy....if a starter is a injured, someone from the bench comes in. Someone outside the 18 fills the spot left on the bench. One exception....if DB injured, Maenpaa comes in.
