still waiting

We all agree,
Gibson is better than Yashin,
John Galley is better than Eusebeo,
and R*vers are in for a thrashing

Get enough old boys together, add beer = a bloody good sing song

Loved it!

But, wasn't it..

Chris Crowe is better than Eusebeo?

And.

Rovers are in for a frashing ?

Ooooooooooohhhhh......dooobie doobie doooo......

Was sat in the South Stand last Saturday and a group of blokes sat behind me on block S21 started singing this, just after "do the Dziekanowski".  Gert big  nostalgic grin from me: bemused look from my 15 year old.  God bless the early 90s!

Remember the first time i heard it against Plymouth. They did not seem to like it much.

Swindle don't much like it sung at them either!

Actually best all time song has to be from the City v Rovers Derby, March 1991. I was in the old East End singing "Holloway, Holloway, ollie, ollie, way, he gets the ball he does *uck all, ollie, ollie, way", in a game which we were far the better side but it was still 0-0. 10 mins from time Rovers get a pen, and Holloway steps up to take it, we are fearing he is going to have the last laugh..., but the penalty is weak and comfortably saved. Que that song being repeated loud and clear and then to cap it off we get the winner 2 mins from time...  magic ?

I just wish we still did the `Barrrrrristol` from the old days.

Fair made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up that did.

'we are red, we are white, we are f****** dynamite, la la la la la la la la la'

'flying high against the sky, we'll keep the red flag flying high, ciderheads until we die, we'll keep the red flag flying high...'

'if you're standing on a corner with a blue scarf round your neck, City boys will come and get you, and we'll break your f****** neck'

In the old (standing) East End, anyone else remember doing the 'ma nah me nah' song from the Muppets? Or is it just me?

Silence in the crowd and a simple 'Brrrriiiistol' chant (one of my fondest memories in the EE starting chants....)

Was watching some of 1998/99 season 'highlights' the other day...was a very poor season but a eventful one- and I heard this chant a few times on there, probably quite isolated though and the last vestiges but it featured a few times.

Sure that in recent years the old chants referred to on this thread have got an airing or a minor one at times.

Talking last 10 years, bit longer.

Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankley

have you heard of the north bank Highbury

Shanks said no I don't think so

but I've heard of the east end aggro

La la la etc

What was the old one about keeping off the east end? I can't remember the start of it but it was something like....

With hatchets and hammers

stanley knives and spanners

we'll show the bas**rds how to fight

you don't come on the east end when the city's on it

if you can't fight, fight, fight

Worst song is 'stand up if you hate the gas'

Should now be changed to "stand up if you remember the Gas..."

"You're so shit it's unbelievable" was a simple favourite from the Eighties. ?

I remember back in 4th Division days it once being altered to "You're so shit you must be Aldershot!"

My personal favourite is "We'll keep the red flag flying high". Anthemic, stirring - and free from references to the Gas and/or violence.

Sadly the the song variety seems to be waning in AG these days.

If you'd come along to the Karaoke in the Giant Goram a while back you would have heard Mum belting out all the old East End classics.

I remember many many years ago in the EE bouncing up and down to “knees up mother brown” and finishing with ‘woah wooah what a rotten song, what a rotten song  and what rotten singers tooooa’

Must be 40 years since I heard that at AG.

I think you might be referring to a version of this:
