Have we ever been this international?

Just looking at our squad now and we could have a different nationality in every position.

Finland in goal

A defence of Portugal, Wales, Czech Republic and England.

A midfield of Ireland, France, Hungary and Sweden

and an attack of Senegal and Austria

I certainly can’t remember a more diverse squad than the one we have now, and amazingly most of them represent their country regularly at some level. We also might be adding a Croatian and Norwegian before the day is done.

Bloody foreigners coming over here and taking our jobs...

Don't forget, we just added a Bermudan. ?

Our last Bermudan didn't work out too badly! ?

I’ve just been thinking this must be the first time in our history that we’ve been able to put out a starting 11 made up of 11 different nationalities who are all internationally capped at first team or under 21 level.

GK Maempaa Finland ??

RB Perrera Portugal ??

CB Kalas Czech Republic ??

CB Benkovic Croatia ??

LB Dasilva England ???????

LW Eliasson Sweden ??

CM Nagy Hungary ??

CM Henriksen Norway ??

RW Weimann Austria ??

ST Wells Bermuda ??

ST Dieadhiou Senegal ??

We’d also still have a French under 20 and the Wales captain on the bench.

I wonder what work restrictions will come in, post Brexit.

Well if FM is anything to go by much easier to sign players would not not normally qualify for a wp and need to be sent to league 2 in France for 3 yrs,

So Brexit is worth it just to make my life on FM less hassle. ?

Am I  alone in thinking that I would much rather have a team of local lads all born within a goal kick of south Bristol.

Appreciate that those days are long gone, but far easier to identify with chaps who are born and bred Bristolians who appreciate our history and culture.

That said very happy with the team now assembled and hopefully a realistic chance of promotion.

So long as the team win I don’t care where they are from. Obviously it’s great when the local lad comes through and scores the winner but it shows how far we’ve come that we can attract foreign players and they come here knowing who we are and that our dream of promotion is a serious one.

Only a matter of time before they discover life on Mars...

...this was a local club for local people.

(loving the Jan recruitment, we look like serious 'contenders' now, but I do miss the days of cheering  local Bristolian lads Red Shirts running out of the tunnel onto the hallowed Ashton Gate turf).

Gow, Ritchie, Gillies, Sweeney, Drysdale, Whitehead, Mann, Hunter............

And an Irish international (COD)l on the bench. If we recalled Max, Joe and Bailey that`s another three so we`d only need one more for a full matchday squad.

I'm sure one of them is from Knowle.  That's what I've heard anyway.
